ok first trip,Nakorn Pathom, Kanchanaburi, Damnourn Saduak and the Tiger temple, second trip, Bangkok, there are lots of nice neighbourhoods to discover, then as it is wintertime, you should visit the South, Trang is very nice and peace full, with mountains, beaches, Emerald cave and islands. After that you should go to the north; Chiangmai, Chiangrai and Pai...

If you have a month you have time to see a lot of places. Personally I recommend Chanthaburi - it is to the Southeast of Bangkok and on the eastern border with Cambodia. It is not touristy and has hills, mountains, the sea, fishing villages, wildlife. It was one of the earliest places to be settled in Thailand and is rich in history with old Thai temples, Chinese temples, archeological sites and French architecture including the largest cathedral in Thailand. We have a resort there which is small family owned and friendly www.faasai.com.

I totally recomend my area - Satun, as it is virtually undiscovered. As we are next to Jungwat Trang, trang get alot more funding than Satun for tourism. Please help me show the world how beautiful Satun is. we have everything here, from Marin National Parks with spectacular coral formations, Sea Gypsies in Koh Lipe and Koh Bulon, who have their own language and uniqyue culture. If we dont support it we are going to loose their cultural identity, as koh Lipe is fast becoming another Phi Phi. But do go check out Koh Rawi and Koh Adang, Koh Taurotao. We also have vast mountain ranges that border Malaysia, with many beautiful waterfalls and caves to explore. Amphur Manug not to be missed Diamond Cave and cakaking through cave formations. We also have a ferry service several times a day to Langakwi, Malaysia for duty free shoppping. Come and photograph Satun please!!!! Many thanks for your enquiry!!

I would recommend Railay in Krabi. It's very easy to get to and has amazing sunsets. There are limestone cliffs that surround this small beach, and no cars are present. It is in my opinion the most beauitful beach in all of Thailand.

Hi, the area of Kao Sok in Surat Thani in the south is very beautiful and has some of the oldest primary rainforest in the world. The area also has a massive man made lake which contains dramatic limestone cliffs erupting from the water. There is also a huge variety of wildlife including gibbons, elephants, gaur (krating), tigers, leopards, and many many others.

You might consider Khao Yai National Park. There are opportunities to see elephants, hornbills (hard to find), gibbons, etc. in the wild. In the nearby areas one can also find winery resorts and cowboy themed attractions. Fun.

If you would like to do a real presentation of Thailand to the world, I would recommend to go beyong only the pitoresque pictures you will find in every tourist guide. Do include the hillpeople and the famous beaches, some bars and rice fields with oxes. But Thailand is also a big exporter, has a strong middle class and cosmopolitan elite. What I find so interesting in Thailand, is that you can find almost anything. That's propbably also the reason almost anyone can relate to this country; the will definitely find a part of Thailand that the will like.

Bangkok is definetely a place to be for some days, there are a few parks, such as the one close to emporium, lumpini, where you might catch the early exercisers and chatuchak, where you can see the weekend market. Around BKK you have Ampawa for the floating market, Kantchanaburi for the River Kwai and Bridge, and Autthaya for some temples and the buddha head in the tree. North: on the way to Chiang mai, you should not miss Lop Buri, the city of monkeys, Sukhotai and the area which has some amazing temples. In the north you have Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai and Pai, Pai has become very touristic, i have heard of a city around there area which represents the north better, but im not sure the name.
To the south of Thailand, on the western coast you have the similan Islands which are beautiful, some of them very picturesc. More souuth; In Krabi you have railay beach and Ao Nang, which has some amazing rock formations. Koh Phi Phi has beatiful beaches, and Maya Bay which cannot be missed (The Beach). On the eastern side close to Krabi, you have other islands, mostly touristic. however you could go the Ang thong National park, where the book of The beach was based on, they have huts which you could rent and stay there. Have to make reservations with the national park (online). More south there are many island on the western coast close to malaysia, never been there, but they are supposed to be very nice. Try to go to some random coastal places, you might see some fishing villags, which are quite nice to take photos. It really depends on what you are try ing to show from Thailand. The paradisiac side, the social life or the country side

Hello. It depends how much you want to travel and how much you want to see and photograph. Thailand is a stunningly beautiful country, filled with beautiful sights, people and places. You should narrow your search to one catagory and go after that. To photograph Thailand you would need two years.
Maybe start in Phuket and work your way north. Sonkran is comming and that festival is celebrated throughout Thailand, BUT make sure your camera is water proof, as it involves throwing lots and lots of water for good fortune. Any more help, drop me an email.
Happy photographing.

Wow this time period is one of the worst for taking pictures in Thailand. It hasn't rained in most of Thailand since November. Not much in the way of waterfalls, everything is dry and brown, the haze is so thick you can't see the mountains, no one is working the rice fields and it is super hot. Go to Chiang Mai for Songkran or the |Thai New year.

See http://www.squidoo.com/Songkran_Thai_newyear

Enjoy,
Randy and Ning

You might want to visit the different regions of Thailand. Certainly go to Chiang Mai in the north, maybe along the Mekong river in the north-east. Then there is Bangkok and nearby, Ayutthaya, Kanchanaburi & the River Kwai bridge, the Floating markets. Phuket, Krabi and Phang Nga bay and some of the island around are very beautiful and you can take some stunning photographs there.

There are so many place in Thailand to go up to what you want to see. In the south, many beaches are so beautiful. I recommend you to go to kon Lipe in Satun province. In addition, many people come to Ayuthaya province to explore Thai history and see Thai historical temples.

I've been to Koa Yai national park. That's also good place where are lots of forest and animals.

Bangkok, a capital of Thailand, is a hub of business, economic and politics. Also, there are a good place here like malls and the Grand Palace. The Floating Market is an interesting place to visit if you come to Thailand.

Have a nice trip.

Hi, for sure you can't miss Songkran festival which is the biggest in Thailand. A nice pleace to be there will be North as it is more traditional, not like some place* to avoid where there are strong water battle. But it's almost impossible to manage to keep dry so be carefull of or equipment. Then if you like nature there are a lot of wonderful national park, waterfall (Erawan in Kanchanaburi (west). In the north you can meet ethnical villages as well. Then in the south nice beaches, Thailand it's very different from notrh to south est to west, culture, food, weather, tradition even language. In 2 months you can see a lot; just tell me more of your expectation I can advice you more deeply.
Cheers
Ben

During April and May, the most suitable places to go are beaches, you can start from Phuket then Phang-nga, Krabi, Trang, Satun - Ardang, Rawi, Leepe, Suratthani - Koh Samui, Khao Sok. You will have awesome shots overthere.
Then for life shots, I reccomend Bangkok and nearby, there are many 100-years market around, many old style musuems. Kohkret in Nonthaburi Province where you can see potery village. For Ampawa in Samutsakorn, it's good to spend weekend time with the floating market and stay in home-stay there. Ayuthaya is the acient capital of Thailand where you can find so many old royal temples and palace there. During 13-15 April are Thai New Year called Songkran Festival or known as Water Festival, you can enjoy this festival in Khaosarn Road and a week later in Prapradaeng.

Depends on what kind of photo's you want to make. Here are my favorites:

Culture: Certainly the old parts of Bangkok (Ratanakosin), Chiang Mai (around Warorot Market). The tempels of Sukhothai and Ayuthaya give very good opportunities (but avoid late afternoon because of the light, especially in April).

Nature: Khao Yai National Park, Khao Sok National Park. The beaches from Trang, Koh Lanta and Krabi for sunsets.

People: Chinatown Bangkok, the ethnic minorities in Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai and Mae Hong Son. But avoid the villages where the daytrips go!!! I know places where hill tribe people DO NOT ask money for a picture.
The Sea Gipsies in the South of Thailand.
