This of course depends on your exact location. But in general, in the urban areas, there are many parks that offer special kids activities like bouncing castles, face painting, toy car rides. E.g. Uhuru Park in Nairobi.
Many family restaurants / nyama choma places (meat roasted on the BBQ, Kenya's national dish) offer similar activities in the weekend. Sometimes they even have comedians and clowns who do a special kids show, so both parents and kids can enjoy their Sunday afternoon in a typically Kenyan way. E.g. Eureka in Kiserian, some 30 kms south of Nairobi.
I hope both of you will enjoy!

It depends on whether you would like a private place with about three to eight other children or on open scenario. For a laid back sunday afternoon I highly recommend Peppers restaurant in westlands. They have a well maintained childrens section complete with nannies on the house to keep an eye on your youngster.
Nakumatt westgate also has a kids arcade on the second floor but it is absolutely busy on sundays.

Hi. I can advise you in Mombasa.
1) There is Haller Park and Mamba Village where a kid can enjoy the parks and animals.
2) Wild waters where there is swimming / slides / games ...
3) You can spend the day by the beach at one of the North coast hotels where they do sunday lunch barbeque and swimming...e.g Whitesands Hotel / reef hotel / Voyager Hotel.

Panari Ice Skating off Mombasa Road at the Panari Sky Center is the place for you to take a 2 year old on a Sunday afternoon!

Let your child enjoy something different and unique - an experience of a life-time. Not to worry, for a minimal fee, the instructors will teach both you and your child to skate and I can guarantee you, both of you will have lots of fun together which eventually results to QUALITY TIME TOGETHER!

In case you decide to head for Panari Ice Skating, remember to pack a small change of warm clothes for both you and your son. The ice is cold but LOTS OF FUN!

There are a number of places where you can go with your two year old child, Most of the upmarket shopping malls in Nairobi have children activities on weekends. I would recommend village market, Sarit Centre and Yaya centre, there are are a number of food courts in the shopping malls.

The other great option is to visit the giraffe centre, where the kid can have an option of feeding the rothschild giraffee. The giraffee centre has a food court.

Rachel

Hi Eunice,

For a tweo year old child i would recommed that you visit the Village market baby pool area where your child will find many other children in that age bracket, They have a small pool area specifically for babies who at first hesitate getting into the baby pool but once they get the hang of it it then becomes a nightmare getting them out,

There is also Jumping Castles normally at the Steers resturany in westlands, who also have face painting, The museum and snake park althoughh is a bit young then there is the animal orphanage and nature trail in the langata area. Kids love the Giraffe Center as well as the Elephant Orphanage close to the Ongata Rongai center but they are open for only 1 hour between 11-12 on sundays.

I too used to take my son to these places and he loved it,

Let me know if you would require any more info.

Deepak

there are many places you could take a two year old to enjoy him or herself. for starters you could take him to haller park where she could enjoy the vicinity and the animals, there are 200 year old tortoises that are big and he or she can ride on them, there is the mamba village where your child can enjoy horse rides, bouncing castles and the company of other kids of her age, then there is the other alternatives of going to a beach hotel since most of them organize sunday fun fares for families to enjoy. it comes with an aray of a buffet, swimming for your kids, and a bouncing castle, face painting and magic shows they are in beach hotels such as Nyali beach hotel, Voyager beach hotel, sunrise beach hotel. The good thing is they are cheap since you wouldnt spend beyond ksh 1500 for the both of you, that is if you are in mombasa. have a thoughtful weekend

think water! one place many people don't know about is Masai Lodge. it's way off the city off magadi road in Rongai but the environment is just one of a kind. it's like driving to shags only to find a haven in the middle of no where and the crowd is just the best! there's a lot of nice food and the joint sits next to a stream with birds all around. you sure would love the place!

If your refering to the city in general there's the giraffe center which has the giraffes and i'm sure can entertain the kid. there's also the national park that is the habitate for several animals like lions, monkeys and other animals that can facsinate the kid. There's also places like village market and splash that offer baby pools, bouncing castles and more. But if you are refering to Kileleshwa, there's not much, though there's the arboretum forest where you can enjoy a nice picnic with the kid and maybe spot some monkeys. Otherwise i guess you'll just have to go into the city.

Hey Eunice,
If you are in Mombasa then Take the Kid to Wild waters, and spoil it! It is a kids paradise. If using public transport take the Matatus that ply to Nyali- Reef,it is just past the Mamba village gate before you get to the Nyali Barracks junction. You can also take the kid to haller park, or take the kid to Public beach (Jommo Kenyatta) here he/she can mingle with others.

There is real breeze and u can watch malindi town from the point.

Olepolos country club.

Just avoid bars however attractive they may seem. Many parents nowadays are going with their kids to drink because such spots offer bouncing castles to their kids and later wonder where the little one learnt how to kiss or fight. Take him to a park or a zoo. just be there as a parent and you will have a good time.
