Hi , Nikitari and Vyzakia are both small villages and are also not developed in tourism terms at all. I am afraid it would be impossible to find a place to stay there unless a villager decides to keep you at heir home! ( which is not very possible ) However, Kakopetria is a big village which is around 12 -15 Km from there and there are a few good hotel there since Kakopetria is well developed in term of services (shops, accomodation, restaurants ). There is a bus service in the area but dont expect too much but i am sure you can find a taxi from Kakopetria if you ask a local there or at the hotel. I can name a few hotels for you if you are interested , please let me know.

Thank you very much for the detailed answer. I suspected that would be the case, but we want to spend times in the 2 Byzantine painted churches in the area, so it would have been nice to stay there locally. I guess we will have to do it on the way to Troodos.

I just have to angree with the rest, Kakopetria is your best choice.
I just want to add that kakopetria is one of the most beutifull villages in cyprus and if you are interesting in vyzantine churges there are also a few of them nearby kakopetria. Most importand is Agios Nikolaos Stegis http://www.kakopetria.org.cy/churches_agiosnikolaosstegis.shtm.

You also have a lot of choices for accomodation, linos is a very good choice, and you will love the interior of the rooms which are in cyprus traditional style.

Thank you for your answer! Actually our plan is to spend a week in the Troodos, staying at Treis Elies, and visiting as many churches as possible (I am an archeologist), including Agios Nikolaos Stegis. I thought we might spend one night in the area of Nikitari, but instead we will spend the night in Nicosia and drive there in morning, continuing to Treis Elies in the afternoon. I hope that it isn't too difficult to get the churches opened when we visit, at least not those on UNESCO monuments list.

Hi Judith
I can find no mention of accommodation in either village of Nikitari or Vyzakia. However, it may be worth contacting the local community board to see if they can help further with possibly an agrotourism hotel or guesthouse nearby. Although I cannot trace anywhere in the local guide - it does seem Kakopetria will be the closest for accommodation.

Thank you for the email address, it is also helpful to make sure that the churches in Vyzakia and Nikitari will be open!

Vyzakia is a very small village.
You will not find hotel.

But it very difficult.

Thank you for the helpful answer - I guess we will stay elsewhere in the Troodos.
