Best vacation place in Puerto Rico with few tourists?

avatar

Can you recommend the best place in Puerto Rico where we can spend our honeymoon? I don't want a place that has too many tourists, but I want something that has a lot of fun and exciting things to do and see. Any recommendations?

here is my plan. After arriving to SJU airport, rent a car and stay in Arecibo so you can visit the camuy caverns and observatory. Then stay in Rincon for two days of beach resting. Then go to Ponce and see the serralles mansion and Tibes Indian Park . Then go to Fajardo and visit the rain forest and do the luminiscent bay there.
All this can take a week.
contact me if you need directions
and yes Congratulation and may you spend many honeymoons on the island of Puerto Rico

It`s perfect to be here Puerto Rico for honeymoon. Congratulations you honeymoon it`s coming to be the best, you have some many option spend time around the shore or over the mountains, this is simple from the mountains to the shore it no more longer than 45 min. and you can keep with you own privacy.Just as Puerto Rico has activities and attractions to appeal to just about everyone, it also offers a range of lodging to fit every taste and budget, from the very modest to the most luxurious.

At the top of the list are the grand resorts sprinkled throughout the island, with gorgeous golf courses, elegant casinos, fabulous restaurants, and exciting nightlife. They are all situated on beautiful beaches, wonderful places to luxuriate in the sun. Most of the best-known hotel names are represented in Puerto Rico, including Best Western, Embassy Suites, Hilton, Hyatt, Marriott, Radisson, Ritz-Carlton, and LXR Luxury Resorts & Hotels. Puerto Rico also has a great variety of moderately priced hotels, usually located a few blocks from the beach and often catering to business travelers.

Many travelers enjoy the personal touch and unique charm of the scores of small hotels and guesthouses that dot the island, and return year after year to their favorites. One of the most attractive options is the Parador. A parador is a small, privately owned hotel participating in a special government program that assures a certain level of quality. They are moderately priced, often located on historic plantations or in especially scenic settings, and feature authentic local food. At the other end of the scale are the intimate boutique hotels, both in San Juan and more secluded areas of Puerto Rico, that offer the utmost in luxury and personal service.

Deciding where to stay can be confusing, with so many options. Visit The Puerto Rico Touirism & Hotel Association site to help you make the best selection for your requirements! Do not forget to take a surfing lessons just go surflessonspuertorico.com and enjoy the enchanted island of puerto rico. Thank in advance, Ramse Morales

I agree with some the answer. I would also stay on the west coast of the island Rincon if you're looking to get away form the busy metropolitan area like San Juan. Now there are going to be tourist on most places of the island just not as much as there are in San Juan. Another great option is the small island of Culebra or Vieques. On Culebra there is a beach that came out on the travel channel " Countdown to Americas best beaches," it was voted number two. You can get to Culebra by ferry ride from Fajardo or you can take a small Cessna airplane and get there in 10 minutes. If you go during the week and rent a small villa on the beach there is not that many people on the island. This place is great for sun bathing, swimming, snorkeling, scuba diving, surfing, and kite surfing. You can rent a jeep to get around the island on a scooter. I would recommend you go to Culebra for your honeymoon. Vieques is the neighboring island of Culenbra. It's a little bigger but it has beautiful secluded beaches as well. There is a bio luminescent bay in Vieques were you can kayak at night time. Definitely an experience. Well I hoped I have helped you with some information.

You can spend some days in the san Juan area, with good beaches and some downtown shopping. Then you ca rent a car and go to La parguera for a unique sea sights at night.
If you like to camp, find out about Isla Culebra, an almost virgin Island you can get by ferry, to either spend a great day, or camp or stay on one of the few cabins that they rent there. It's very peaceful, and the beach is amazing.
The idea about Arecibo is cool, you can move to Mayaguez too and spend another night at the Casino Hotel there.
Best of it all, you can also get into a Caribbean cruise (a lot of them depart from san Juan) and you can visit too Aruba, St. Thomas, Santo Domingo, and other typical and great destinations in the caribbean.
St. Thomas is amazing, and planning well you can arrange to spend a week there and get back to san Juan in the next round of the Cruise. But while in Puerto Rico, don't miss El Morro in the San Juan area, and get a Piña Colada where they invented it. ;)

Culebra hands down is my favourite place in Puerto Rico. it is a ferry ride away but the white sand beaches and great atmosphere are not to be missed. about two years ago i found a place where i could rent a place on the beach for less than 100 a night and it was a full condo on the little island by the beach, if you want one puerto ricans suggestion, take me up on culebra.

Puerto Rico is not my favorite destination for honeymoons, that would be Lanikai, Hawaii. But if I must answer my answer is Vieques Island. Hands down.

Why? Unlike other overdeveloped areas in PR, Vieques is still a somewhat virgin spot in the Caribbean. The US Navy occupied the island until 2003 and since then it has slowly turned into one of the finest vacation spots in the world.

I have to say, if your idea of a honeymoon is having some time to walk around mall, Vieques is not for you, but there's enough nature and local color to remember forever, especially since it will most likely disappear after big hotel chains take over this still underrated spot.

There are three great beaches Red Beach, Blue Beach and Green Beach (those were the names given by the Army) which are also know by their more humane spanish names Bahía Corcho, Bahía de la Chiva and Punta Arenas. Those are seriously top class white sand beaches, but beware, unlike Lanikai or any other highly rated places, Vieques' amazing landscapes are for those who don't mind the lack of beer vendors or umbrella rentals. Since it's your honeymoon I'd like to think that these immaculate solitary spots would be more sexy and romantic than, say, crowded South Beach.

However, you might want to save at least a day to visit the biggest attraction know in Vieques Island: Puerto Mosquito. The waters in PM are bioluminescent, meaning that tourist go there for a splash in waters that glow with your every movement thanks to the presence of certain species of phytoplankton. This phenomenon is not unique to Vieques (I experienced in Venezuela), but this is the world's top destination to enjoy this phenomenon.

Other than that, there are several other attractions in the island, including the main towns, Vieques and Isabel Segunda, where you can meet other newlyweds as they shop for local trinkets.

As for lodging, Vieques lacks the hotel grandeur of Jamaica or Hawaii, but who said bigger is better? Vieques Wyndham should be more than enough to shelter you in the most especial trip of your life. Just make sure you rent a 4x4.
