Hi there,
I definately agree with all of the above posts. However, I would recommend have a good think about where you would like to be teaching and to what audience before you can really get yourself a more exact figure.

Some good questions to ask yourself:

* Do you have business experience? Teaching English to companies employees can be much higher paid than teaching to young children.

* Have you the TEFL Qualifications necessary to the job type you would like?


* Ensure you have all your documents on you: your TEFL Cert/s. Your Qualifications. Up-to-date CV.

* What was your degree in? As there are positions for English speaking tutors to teach other subjects, you are not only limited to teaching English if you hold strong qualifications in other subject matters.

* By all means check out the TEFL employment sites around for Asia. From experience, many people get the good jobs by simply networking. Speaking to people in the cities they have chosen to work in, and gaining a good knowledge of the 'good' employers and the 'not so good'. And just being in the right place at the right time, and hearing about a vacant role.

* Adding to the above, if you have heard about a good employer, or someone you would really like to work with. Directly approach them - here in Thailand it is acceptable to simply walk in and present yourself and your documentation in person.

I would say, that Bangkok has the best wages for Thailand. Most of the newly qualified English Teachers, with a TEFL cert not used before can still earn 35,000 baht + p.m.

Bear in mind, that there are opps to earn more, and options with free accomodation / breakfast & lunch included which added onto the basic earned can be pretty substantial.

It depends on your qualifications, experience, location and your nationality to a certain extent. Presuming that you are a native speaker with a degree and a TEFL certificate, you could expect the following salary:

Bangkok - 30,000 to 50,000
Other Cities - 25,000 to 40,000
Rural / Less Built Up Areas - 20,000 to 35,000

As an indication, I taught basic conversation in a town in North East Thailand for 25,000 for two years; but now teach EP in Bangkok for 38,000 per month.

If you are a fully qualified teacher in your home country, there is also the possibility of working for an International School where you could easily earn a salary of between 50,000 and 70,000 a month.

I have no experience of University salaries - I think it depends on the position.

If you are a native speaker and decently qualified (Degree, TEFL etc.), then the sky is the limit. Non native speakers generally earn from 15000 - 35000, unqualified native speakers from 25000 - 40000. If you have the right qualifications, then I would suggest you apply at an international school. They will usually offer you a 12 month contract with a bonus and flights.

In Phuket at a Government school you will be looking at around 30,000 THB or if you are lucky 40,000 THB per month ...

Higher salaries will be paid at International schools ...

If you have a degree in teaching and english is your native language, go to Taiwan, if it only depends on the money.
If you want to live relax, come to Thailand :P

Realistically you can expect to earn between 25,000 and 50,000 baht per month depending upon your qualifications
Better salaries are paid in S. Korea and Japan.

Between 25K and 45K depending on if you are teaching in BKK or not and if you have TEFL or experience. That's in Thailand, bnot sure about other places, but S Korea and Japan you will make a LOT MORE.

The pay in Bangkok, depending on qualifications and/or experience, is between 30,000 and 55,000 baht.

If you are a fully qualified teacher and have over 2 year's experience, some private schools will offer you over 60,000 baht.

Be aware it is getting harder for unqualified or unexperienced short term backpacker 'teachers' to find work. At least proper work that is, cash in hand work is not something I know aobut. The minimum should be a TEFL, and preferably you would have a degree.

In the regional areas south of Bangkok you will struggle to find a decent school which can pay you appropriately (more than 20K). The reality is, you do not come to Thailand to earn money so don't worry about that, you will always be able to survive.
Choose your location for where you want to be and will be happy. That is more important than the money.

You could also think about teaching English privately.
You could charge a one-one fee or charge for a small group.
Your hourly fees could be between 300-500 baht per hour depending on the type of person you teach and their requirements. It's just a matter of advertising and finding students. I could help you to get started, please feel free to contact me for more info.

It really depends on the company that u plan to teach.. Like some schools offer starting Bht 15K - Bht 45K and they need basic teaching qualifications.
U can try Wall Street Institute English School

Chosing Thailand could be the best choice comparing the other asian countries.
Here the 30K salary can get if you born in english speaking country.If need more u should have a degree with IELTS / TOFEL cirtificates.

depending on a lot of things, but usually around 15,000 - 20,000THB for governement school, private will offer more advantage but requiere probably more qualification. Also Bangko will offer more than North east but the cost of living & experience is also different
