Web

It is my first time to visit Penang in May of this year. I want my uncle and my brother to enjoy this trip with me. WE are food lovers and are not so much of a fan of spicy foods, but we still want to enjoy the best food experience in Malaysia. Please help me know the best places to find in Penang and would 1week stay be enough?

Hi Jennifer,
I would say you must try the dishes from the street hawkers. They are usually wholesome, hearty and delicious. If you don't want the 'heat', just shake your head and say "tidak cili" {no chilli}. That's Bahasa Indonesia, but all Malaysians will understand.

Happy Travels!

well for none spicy food..alot of street hawkers will have a nice spread to suit everyone's taste...for non spicy food...nasi kandar, seafood and a varieties of sweetmeats are available. Prices of seafood should be cheaper at Tambun (the mainland Penang) or at Batu Maung which is further end of the Batu Ferringhi. Best of Luck scouting around

ok cool.....honestly penang food is great.... the best "local" hawker ( which is short for a roadside food vendor ) is i think Swatow lane....but i heard recently they are now housed in a newly built indoor style covered shelter next to the original site. Look for it. Great " char kway teow" and " penang laksa." Nasi kandar is also good.....another localyte had answered. also on batu ferringhi there is a cafe right on the beach behind Park royal hotel......nice atmosphere .
