Island Sports Club Hotel is officially rated as a 3 star hotel. Some of my friends say that better see it like a 2 star hotel.

It depends on what you really want to see and what you intend to do in Mauritius. Island Sports Club Hotel is one of the first fishing centre (for big game fishing) in Mauritius.

It is located on the west coast mid way from north to south. It is situated in a local village called Riviere noire. Along up the west coast, u'll find Flic en Flac at about 10/15 mins, a very well developed coastal town with very beautiful hotels, bars, clubs, restaurants hwere you can chill out. Down the west coast you will discover more rural and creole lifestyle, a more authentic mauritian lifestyle, mainly Le Morne classified as Patrimoine mondial de l'UNESCO regarding the History of slavery in Mauritius...

It is indeed situated on the beach... but the beach there is not really the best beaches of Mauritius...

hi clifford,if you want a hotel which is nearer to the beach i reccomend you the southern hotel like the Movenpick Hotel,Telfair Hotel,Heritage Hotel,Tamassa Hotel or the Pavillon Hotel which will be better for you,as there the aquatic activities are fabulous,you got snokling,scuba diving etc,and there the lagoon is slenpdide.now is you to choose the best one all these hotel are 4 or 5 stars hotel as the island sports is a 2 stars.

Hi.
I live in Cap Malheureux and can fully recommend the north as a beautiful sun, sea and sand holiday with its beach watersports.
Grand Bay is a beautiful coastal town with lots of sports activities such as submarine, undersea walk, water sky, scuba diving...
I also recommend Ile aux cerfs. A beautiful small island filled with beautiful soft sands plus all the watersports there for your fun and leisure.

not bad IMO...
don't expect the same service as in a 5-star hotel, but it's not bad at all. i stayed there some times back, and at that time, the room-service, design, food was not particularly good. but as mentioned above, not bad. if all you need is somewhere to stay and have breakfast so you can go out the rest of the day, it's fine (and wise).
and yes, they do big game fishing there...
