Theme parks like Xcaret, Xel-ha, swin with dolphins, also depends on how old your kid is...
also could be something more active like snorkeling or even depends on age, scuba diving

If your kid is old enough to go snorkeling, I recommend Akumal, 20 min from Playa, it's a lovely bay, like a natural aquarium, with a big group of turtles swimming below you, you can almost touch them..

Look like they already told you it depends a lot in the age of the kid, but definitely xel-ha is one of the best options in the Mayan Riviera, inside you can find tons of activities including the dolphin swim.
Try to give us some more specifics so we can recommend you some other activities, maybe he is old enough to go on an ATV tour or some other activities.
