Hi Xiao! Punta del Este is a top seaside resort. There are two upper class hotels: Conrad and Mantra. Additionally you can find a vast offer of lodging, included rented houses and appartments. In such case it would be better to contact some real state agency.

Punta del Este and its surroundings (Portezuelo, Punta Ballena, PInares) have beautiful and peaceful beaches. A must is the popular Casapueblo, home of the artist Paez Vilaró, unique in its architectonic style.

Once you are there I would recommend you to vist José Ignacio and La Papaya, an Agritourism resort. The latter is specialized in producing "dulce de leche" (milk jam) which is one of our gastronomic specialities.

If you like to move a little outside P. del Este, you could visit Piriapolis, a "Cote d`Azur" style seaside resort, situated just 30 km from there. It has a very nice location at the feet ot the hills and bordering the sea. Unluckily the beach is rather small there, but there are wider ones nearby, for example Las Flores or Punta Colorada.

Do not hesitate to contact me for further information.

Enjoy your stay!

There are several hostels now, of course there are hundreds of hotels, but for those travelling on their own, it's always nice to make friends quickly and go out with them. Needless to say that sharing the room with 3 other people is noisy and uncomfortable...
Just google for Hostel 1949 right downtown the peninsula, and there are some other close by, like a YHA.
