Before you come visit http://www.skopjeclubbing.com.mk/ :) in here there are the best partys in Skopje, btw, dont forget to go in coffie in the KEY of the river Vardar, also dont forget to visit the Irish pub, and some other internation pabs around the Key , Discos: Hard rock , Colloseum , those are my favs :)

Usually in August is very hot and most of the citizens go in Ohrid for summer vacation, if you can my suggestion is to visit Ohrid at least for a couple of days. Otherwise the cafe bars on the river Vardar are full day and night.

Well apart from the variety of clubs and pubs in our capital, you will enjoy in the tours through out the museums, and you can also visit the Lake Matka a true wonder of nature, one of a kind in the world, also you can visit the Milenium +.
As far as your interest in party time in clubs, you won't make a mistake regardless of which one you choose.

I really suggest that during the day you visit Matka. It is a very beautiful lake near Skopje, on the way to Tetovo. Since August is really hot, this will be a great place to chill out a little bit. You could also go hiking there if you are interested.
As for the evenings during summer there is always lots of fun, plenty of DJs, open-air clubs and discos and tons of beer. I am sure you will enjoy it.

Also dont forget to visit the Old part of Skopje ,beautifull things to see really :) and dont forget to taste the best Ice Cream in old bazar in the Ice Cream Restourant " OHRID " in the old bazar :)

It depends what time in august u r coming....Because if its at d beggining ,the best thing is to go straight to Ohrid for 2 reasons:1.At that time here is very hot(around 100-105 F) and the city is half empty because people are at theis vacations.2.because is vacations time,the best partyes are held at the lake shores in Ohrid(good music,cheap alcohol,prety girls,sunrises,sunsets...u got the point)...Now,if u r coming at the end of august there sure are plenty to do in Skopje...Starting from the outstanding nature around the city ( Matka lake,surrounding mountains,monastiries....)There are also great open-air summer clubs,great restorants with food i beat u havent tried,again preety girls,bars that work everyday and u need 18 to drink legaly..Thats it mainly,for more details,write again...

Hi,

The first, in august in Skopje is very hot nad it is notrecomended to walk. But, if you must be in Skopje that period, you will find many places for enjoy yoy self and you freinds. We have lot of bars, disco clubs and restorants in the center of town,you can hang around Old Bazar - drinked coffe or thee, but also you can go to the best Treska recreation center and Treska river canyon and to the monastery and church of Virgin Mary.
Also to enjoy on the beauty of Matka Lake and the church St Andrew (14th century).
I propose you also to find time and visit Ohrid and Prespa Lake.

Well since you are planing a trip in August and the temp. is sky rocketing at that time of the year here I doubt Skopje would be much fun, there is a day of site seing to do around Skpje and the night life I bet would mach the stag mood. Since you are planing to stay few more days Im sure you can work out a trip to one of the lakes and see where the real fun is. Please bare in mind that Skopje is quiet since everybody is away for the holls until late Aug. But stil is your call on what kind of festivities you would like to include and indulge while you are here. :)

Yes I can tell you, but tell me first what most you like to do ? If you want to visit historical places I can guide you but if you want just to have fun, the central park and the bay on the Vardar river its the right place!

You could also climb up Mount Vodno - by car or by foot if you are up to a hike. You could have lunch up there at the restaurant by Monastery Penteleymon and enjoy the panoramic view of the city. Otherwise, Matka, museums, galleries and the old bazaar during the day, and cafes and clubs at night. There is a nice cafe and various exhibits at Mala Stanica. A good wine bar (Vinoteka Temov) I just visited in the old bazaat, if you would like to try local wines. And you could always hit the Ramstor mall if you get too hot and need some strong AC.

In Skopje in summer the clubs are not so full with people but you can spend really good time in the pubs and bars. There are several of them working in august with a really nice agenda.

I only have a few words of advice: August in Skopje is a bad idea. It is so hot that you will hate yourself for doing it. Everybody is coming to Ohrid, especially during weekends to chill out at a beach, and the night life is also fun. You can also visit a classical music concert at the Ohrid summer festival (July 12 - August 20). In case you are interested in Ohrid instead, contact me.

I forgot to mention the unique chance for hang gliding in tandem in Ohrid. You will have the best pilot in Macedonia to fly with and teach you the basics.

Forget Skopje in August during the day, do whatever you can in the early morning hours, including visits to its landmarks and escape...Yes, Matka lake is close enough,some 15 km from Skopje or half hour by car and enjoy the beautiful nature of the Matka canyon.Then,come back afterwards, refreshed to continue your adventure in some of Sk.discoteques.
Still,may I remind you that Ohrid lake is called the Balcan jewel? Maybe the diving is exactly what you need, knowing you're perfectly safe since there are no sharks in the lake :))
Moreover, you'll be thrilled to discover a pile-dwelling settlement in the Bay of Bones, on the eastern shore of the Ohrid lake:

you have millions of answers, all of them from experts(?!?) and not one that gives you kind of answer that you need...i'm not sure i'll manage to do it too but i'll try:
during the day as some of them said, try to hide inside (at home - hotel) or be sure you are near water - the caffes at the Vardar River Bay (Cartel Caffe, alo alo, irish pub...) or Canyon Matka if you want to see a few things besides the caffes. There's a good restaurant over there too. The City Park is also a good option. Then rest and try the inns at Debar Maalo a part of the City in the center, and be sure to reserve a table before that. There you'll get great food and drinks by choice for lower prices than the clubs. Than the Vardar Bay again and at the end of the day (the begining of the next haha) try the night clubs by your choise: if you are interested in live bands try Castro or Marakana, and for Dj's and parties try Hard Rock, Cartel Club or Coloseum.

hmm 10 guys, you could always find interesting things to do even in Skopje in august.
depends what would you like in such a short time: nature, sightseeing, museums, pubs
For just a weekend , in Skopje, I guess you would like
before noon visiting Matka or museums, sightseeing,
afternoon coffe by the river Vardar, lunch (there are various restaurants with delicious national and international cusine in and near Skopje), at night go to pubs (so many... you could choose, but most of them are near or in the center of the city so you could try all)
at sunday you could do the same or maybe visit nearby archeological places or go to macedonian villages, or Ohrid..depends what you like, and Ohrid is breathtaking, simply guides you...

Hmm the 6 of august...During the summer the night life is concentrated in the city park, separated from the center but still very close (have in mind that the summer nights here can be warm....)Usually the night fun starts in bars in the center close to the river Vardar, nice atmosphere and of course nice young people always in mood for fun. After 01 am the fun continues in the city park. There are few night clubs with different kind of music where you can have "fun"... When we talk about cafe bars for daily cup of coffee, i prefer the small and quiet ones in "Debar Maalo", the old part of the city, "under" the smell of the linden trees.

two summer clubs Collosseum and Hard Rock, lot of coffie bars in center. There are a lot of bars in city suburbs with national folk music, and the fun there can be very good and cheap( with your budget you can score with a lot of girls)
