I am coming to Jamaica for the first time. I have been to Dominican Republic many times. All-inclusive hotels are too boring for me.

I like to scuba dive and see the real people. I would need to go to a gym and have access to the beach. Can you help me with that?

It would be easier to answer you if I knew where in Jamaica you plan on staying. If you are in Mobay and want an inexpensive but well maintained property you could try chatam cottages or just around the corner is Tobys Inn Resort. Both have use of one of the beaches near by. The Manager of cornwall beach is an avid diver and just above the airport is the best gym in town called gymkana. If you are staying in Ochi a good local place is roadsters or as we locals call it Marions just opposite Jamaica Inn. The beach is within walking distance and there are several gyms in the town to choose from or my fav again within walking distance of Marions is at white river. Once here you can catch up with tour operators that offer scuba diving. Hope this is of help? Maybe you were thinking of other areas of the island such as Port Antonio, Negril or St Elizabeth?

Firstly which direction are you coming? Are you coming to Kingston or Montego Bay? Kingston offers a lot of history for Port Royal is the historical site to visit. There are other places like the home of Marcus Garvey and the UNIA headquarters the different schools that were started in the 1800's holds a heap of historical facts and memorabilia. The National Gallery can offer art history and art works. The National Museum will show you pics of the 1902 earthquake and its devastation. You will also get to see pics of Hurricane Gilbert which literally wiped out the banana industry many houses in Kingston including the University of the West Indies. The University is a historical site to visit with the oldest aqueduct in the Caribbean and the Iron Bridge in Spanish Town the oldest rot iron bridge in the Western Hemisphere. The Bob Marley Museum is everyone's favorite stopping place. Trench Town in downtown Kingston where the King of Reggae used to live and make his music is another special place to visit. Kingston has a lot to offer and if you are interested in allowing me to take you around you will learn a lot. Please check out my website at sites.google.com/site/tflc2008 you can choose the type of tour you wish to take depending on how long you will be here in Jamaica.

Girl you need to expound on Rollington town talk more about it what does Rollington hold? Latoya you should sell your district to the person who is interested in the place. You should have asked what have you heard about Rollington town? If it is the birthplace of music you should have told him so sell yourself as knowing your area.

Your question was asked about Rollington Town Kingston and I am not familiar specifically with that are but Kingston in general. Kingston is the capital of Jamaica but not the most popular tourist destination.
I now that there are not as many choices for resort style accommodations as you may find in Montego Bay or Ocho Rios where the all inclusive is so popular. Kingston is a business town with more business style hotel accommodations which may suite your need for a gym but will lack that vacation feeling in my opinion.
Hotel rooms in Kingston seem to cost more there than other parts of the island where they have a greater selection. Many of the budget hotels are in less than desirable areas and the better ones in are in Uptown or New Kingston which is the up all night party section of town.
Kingston and the surrounding area offers a variety of tours and adventures including hiking up the Blue Mountains or visiting the many coffee shops in the area. Kingston is home to the Bob Marley Museum and Tuff Gong Records for fans of the reggae legend.
Scuba diving off Kingston can be fabulous depending no who you go with and where exactly you go.
