I've been in Juan-les-Pins years ago: like every place in Cote d'Azur, it's amazing.
You can have a lot of fun in the night.
I don't remember anything about it, I'm sorry, but I recommed to you the near Cannes, city I know perfectly.
Cannes is famous for the Cinema Festival; during this period (12-23 mai 2010) there a lot of attractions around the "croisette".
Except Festival, I think Cannes is a nice city, with beautiful beaches and downtown (don't think it's expensive, I always found great shopping-chance!).
From the port you can take a boat to Lérins Isles: the biggest, called S. Marguerite, it's a wonderful seaside, a sort of natural paradise; 15 minutes far and not expensive, I visit it every summer! Take a look.
