Hi there. Before I would suggest any 3 star range hotels, perhaps I mighgt request you to check online for the 4/ 5 star hotels as well you will be surprised that if you do book early (ask your travel agent for earlybird bookings as well) you can sometime get great deals and consider the financial crisis as this is impacting on the prices even for december.Since its your honeymoon..it's certainly worth checking:) also google 'Solis voyage' they offer extensive service for honeymooners and are professionals that would take care of you from start to finish according to your budget. In December it can be very hot and humid and it's also the start of d cyclonic season..nt scaring you but this is a possibility n cyclones d most will last 2 days n then d sun is out again. Temp wise it cld be up to 36oC n minimal 26oC. The cost depends on where you want to stay obviously and if you give me a rough indication on what you want to invest in this holiday I will endeavour to advise you in more detail of what you could possibly get for this money. Email me bck personally and I will be happy to help. Kind Regards Ruddy

Hello.. In Mauritius nearly every hotel in the category you are talking have special arrangement and a large range of offering for honeymooners. I have seen that someone has advice you 20 deg hotel. It is indeed a beautiful hotel and well situated with a small beach which is not frequented by many people. Another particularity of this hotel is the concern of the owners themselves that their clients are having good moments. Another interesting hotel that i suggest is the Veranda Paul & Virginie, a nice hotel for honeymooners with a wide range of water sports, good restaurants and a sympathetic team for the service. It is a good thing that you have already started preparing your holiday at this moment because December is the start of the high and peak season. I will advice you to go and read travellers reviews on forum and travellers site so that you have a clear idea of what to choose and have more advise on the costs. Concerning the climate in the beginning of December you will not have to worry too much because it is normally a good season although it can be more hotter than usual. However we will be in the cyclonic season but it is quite rarely that we get cyclone during that period.

Hi there.. Well.. I can suggest you two hotels in the east coast side where the most beautiful beaches are found. Both are 3* hotels. All rooms have sea view. For december the rates won't exceed 200 Euro / couple / night on HB basis. Deluxe Room: decorated on arrival, with champagne, flowers and basket of fruits. The hotels have 60 rooms in all.. Not more than 150 guests around you. You'll have a very nice service by the resto/bar/spa/shops and a very warm welcome by the reception and the staffs. Animations every night. Special buffets [Indian nights, Creole nights...] Shopping centres are at about 20-25mins from the hotels. Taxi service available at any hour. Many lots more surprises for you if you visit these sites... Wish to hear from you very sooN...

Hi there, you have chosen the right destination and the right season. Now you need to choose the right hotel!!! on my side of the island there are mainly 4 - 5 star hotals but if you are interested in private cottages or villas then we could find you something cute and not too expensive. Most of these cottages or villas offer a lot of services which you would find in hotels. A lot of people come and get married in Mauritius too. Go to www.harasdumorne.com for an example.

You can also look on:
http://www.tropiscope.com
http://www.bookmauritius.com
Information on costs etc have been asked before on other posts so suggest you look around this site for that info.
Also remember that Dec is the height of summer and can be very very hot and humid if you are not accustomed to this type of climate - sunscreen etc is essential if you plan spending long time periods in the sun.
Hope you find what you are looking for and have a great time!

Firstly what an amazing place to spend your honeymoon. As for your question, finding a hotel is not a problem (what part of the island would you prefer? Best to book well in advance as you never know how difficult it may become as your big day approaches), costs-personally I do not find Mauritius an expensive place as I'm originally from Europe so living here to me is cheap. Everyone has there own opinions... climate is good 95% of the time, as you'll be here in Dec-well that is Summertime so you'll have plenty of sun/heat!

From my personal and professional point of view, i would suggest The Paradise Cove and Spa, situated in Anse la Raie. this is one of the best if not the best hotel in Mauritius concerning Honeymoons. The place is really like paradise and the intimate atmosphere there will certainly suit you. The Hotel is actually specialized in Honeymoons and special packages are available with the Hotel itself. The area is also a private one and the beach is out of reach of Mauritians which is an advantage if you don't want to be disturbed by hawkers or other people. If shopping is one of the things you want to do here, you shall be able to go to the Goodlands market (where you will find Mauritian Stuff)which is about 10 mins in Taxi (available directly at the hotel) or Grand Baie which is one of the most popular Tourist place in the country. There you will find various things and brands from around the world.
Anse la Raie is also one place where it does not rain often and i'm sure that this will be one important aspect in your choice.
From the north, you will also be able to visit many places such as Port Louis, our Capital and go to the south where you will discover loads of interesting places. However, the south is where you may get lots of rain but it may be ok just for excursions.
If ever you need more detailed information about the island, please do feel free to contact me on the site or by mail.
