Definitely by bus. Don’t be sure that plane will be faster. You have to wait in the airport in Istanbul, then transfer from the airport to the bus station in Sofia (an expensive fare is another risk there), probably wait again on the bus station and the distance from Sofia to Stara Zagora is 231 km. Besides, your guests from Istanbul can enjoy the various landscapes and mountains on a bus-trip. Trains are not recommendable. Usually they are slow and not comfortable, but it might be cheaper than bus.

I would go by bus. The company I prefer is Metro - I think they have two buses a day. I would travel on the nite bus as there will be less traffic leaving Istanbul and the border passing will be quicker. The buses are comfortable and safe and they will serve light snacks. The train is not the cleanest or most comfortable and may take longer than the bus.

I will recommend you to travel by bus.It is easier, cheap, dont take much time and it is comfortable. There are different companies like Metro etc. which stop on the central busstation ( otogar) in Istanbul. There are buses to Bulgaria from 3 to 5 times a day depending on the season. The ticket coast- one way 22 euro and round trip- 40 euro.
Kind regards

Hi,I prefer train.Actually I use it every time on this destination, its cheaper, comfortable,on time and you can make a pictures from the window :) And if you decided to travel with bus please take one of cheaper buses here around -this one to Haskovo. Form Istanbul at 10:25 p.m. and it is in Haskovo after 4 or 5 hours, then you have one Hour to Stara Zagora. Enjoy your trip!

Hello. Bus is faster and cleaner though a little more expensive. Please, use a Turkish bus company. They have regular timetable and perfect servise. It wont take more than 6 hours on the road.
Should you prefer a lower price train costs less. But mind tranis delay, trains will take you for 12 hours due to many passengers and custom control at the border. I am not positive that international train makes a stop at Stara Zagora. So BUS is the answer.
Wish you a sfe journey. Best regards!

Hi! I would also recommend to go by bus. Train roads are not in such a good condition in Bulgaria.
Then, there are several companies offering busses from Istambul to Sofia. They make a stop in Stara Zagora.
So, you will have departure time choice.
