trip to Costa Rica for my sister in law, what not to miss?
Web
She likes nature but also wants to relax on a warm white sandy beach. I was making a plan for her and included the Arenal Vulcano and Rain Forest. Monteverde seems beautiful but it may be to much forest so i was thinking Manuel Antonio Beach, there are also nice beaches on the northern pacific coast of Costa Rica, i have no idea what is the best. Also a nice hotel with relaxing spa. She only have one week and it is from Lisbon so a very long trip. Thanks for you help! Paula

Hi Paula!
That is a tough question - Costa Rica offers so much it is difficult to choose! Since your sister-in-law has one week (and given her long trip) I agree that it is best to stay in one or two areas. Both La Fortuna and Manuel Antonio are your best options since they offer the most things to do - therefore, she will be able to do the most while staying in the same location. This is the best way to make the most of your vacation in Costa Rica! In choosing either La Fortuna or Manuel Antonio – what does she prefer to do more? Rainforest activities such as hiking, biking, nature tours, and zip-lining? Or water activities such as snorkeling, dolphin watching, scuba diving, and surfing?
Whichever you decide, please consider visiting our website: www.puravidaeh.ca
We are the directors for Pura Vida! eh? Incorporated - a Canadian owned corporation for tourism in Costa Rica. We promote only the best Costa Rica has to offer - not ALL tours/services like some other companies. In addition, we are a 100% free service for all travellers worldwide. In fact, we do not ‘sell’ anything nor do we accept any payments from travellers – travellers pay tour operating companies and hotels directly for their tours and services. We don’t even ask for your credit card information for reservations in order to maintain your personal safety!
We operate on a 'voucher/coupon' system. How it works is, you tell us the type of tours or services you require in Costa Rica, and we send you a Pura Vida! eh? voucher to give to the tour/service company. The voucher allows you to access discounted rates for all there is to do around the country. Depending on the number of travellers, the amount of time they have in Costa Rica, and the things they want to do – travellers can easily and quickly save hundreds of dollars during their vacation… and they have nothing to lose! The more vouchers you obtain, the more money you save!
We would be happy to help you or your sister-in-law save money and we would be happy to use our business partnerships to obtain discounts for you. To learn more about us, our company, or how we operate, please visit: www.puravidaeh.ca
However, we are currently in the process of switching our tours/services/hotels over from our old website to our new website. As a result, the current website does not reflect the over 500 tours and services that we currently offer vouchers for. If you have any other questions or are interested in our vouchers/coupons, please email our team at info@puravidaeh.ca
Lastly, our team has put together some PDF files outlining all of the tours and services available at each popular tourist location around the country. If you would like me to send you these PDFs to look at (they may help you gain a better understanding of what there is to do at each location and therefore help you make a more informed decision as to the best locations for your sister-in-law), just send me an email and I would be happy to do!

Hola Paula!
The Arenal Volcano area is must-see spot in CR, there you can enjoy the hot springs and rain forest, I highly recommend you the hanging bridges, specially if you can hire a guide, they can tell you many interesting things about nature and they ussually find animals that other way you miss. From this area you can easily visit the north pacific beaches and relax, instead of heading to Manuel Antonio. I recommend you Playa Hermosa, where there are excellent places and you can find snorkeling, kayaking, or trips by boat around the bay and even visit waterfalls and volcanos not far away.
If you would like more information, I will be glad to help you, my email is josue@hotelrobledal.com
Best Regards!

If she is travelling from Lisbon i think the best is to focus the vacation in a single area. you don`t want to take many time in the road having 16 flying hours. Manuel Antonio will work fine, the place has beautiful spas near and the Carara national park will give her the opportunity to see a transition forest between the central pacific and the north pacific zone. There are a lot of "one day tours" departing from almost any important beach in the country so, I think that the trip could be not so plan that your sister doesn`t had the chance to do something like staying more at the beach if she wants. But that`s my point of view. I like planning but not as much as to close my options! Good luck and hope to see you here, you`ll love my country!

You are right Mario, it is a very long trip to get to San José and then there is the trip back, so a lot of driving around may not be very relaxing! So far i am enjoying resourching about Costa Rica, it is sooo beautiful!
Thanks

Hi Paula. I would rathe suggest a non tradditonal itinerary, more jungle, more caribbean.... Is she traveling alone? I cand send some customized itineraries if you send me an email to gadaesan@msn.com No small letters, no extra fees. Costa Rica is awesome and it can be very commercial too, be careful!
