The easiest thing to do would be to check www.hotels.com or www.priceline.com becuase you would need check in dates to get rates. Those sites are very easy to use and you can even get a map of the location if they find something in a good price range. Ive gotten tons of good deals up in Tampa and Clearwater using those sites, which is right nex to Tampa directly on the west coast.

Try the Red Roof Inn on Busch Blvd near Busch Gardens. Their internet rates are generally better than others.

I have friends who visit frequently and there are several places to stay on Ulmerton Road, (the second exit) after crossing the Howard Frankling Bridge (275) on the right hand side of the road by Pinera's. The prices usually run between $60 and $80 if you make a one night reservation.

I suspect if you were to drive over the Sunshine Skyway bridge into Bradenton, you might be able to find better prices. Once you get into the Sarasota area the price will probably go up.

Have you heard of couchsurfers.com? http://www.couchsurfers.com It is a web site of local's, some of whom would consider having you sleep in a spare bedroom.

As I think somebody else suggested, if it were me and I wanted a reservation, I would use "priceline.com"

Hope all this helps.
