During Christmas Eve many events are simply taking place in the squares, particularly Piazza del Campidoglio, Piazza del Quirinale, Piazza Navona). For other events you may look at this web-sites : http://www.romatrip.it/ and http://www.romace.it/site/index.php . This second site publishes a monthly review that you may ask at your concierge as you check-in at your hotel.
For a guided tour or walk in Rome you may have a look at my web-site www.tourguideinrome.it . Merry X'mas!

Visiting Rome during Christmas is enchanting. There are wonderful things going on in Rome during the Christmas holiday season. Piazza Navona and Campo de'Fiori are filled with Christmas stalls selling toys and candies. On December 24th Pope Benedict will preside over mass at midnight given from the Papal chapel at St. Peterās. while on December 25th the Pope will give mass from the high altar at St. Peterās at 12:00 noon. And, of course, there are all the other churches and basilicas displaying of the Christmas Nativity Scenes.
Happy xmas!
Ciao
