There are a number of affordable cottage options in North Coast but you don't say what type you are looking for depending on number of pax and for how long since a number of accommodation suppliers specify the number of nights to be spent over the Christmas season. Quite a number of them are fully booked for this period but we could always source out some options and get back to you.

Quite frankly, I'd say stay as far away from Bamburi at Christmas as possible. Maybe Mtwapa, Kilifi or Shanzu, if you want to be close to mombasa town, but Bamburi will be absolutely mad, and chockablock full of thousands and thousands of people. Not a friendly place for a nice family vacation.
