US Citizens could come to Taiwan and stay one month without visa.

As everyone said, no need for separate visa to enter Taiwan, but you will need a visa to enter China.

No, US citizens do not need separate visas for Taiwan en route to China, you have an automatic 30 visitors visa

No, you do not need a visa, although you will need one for going to mainland China - you will need to get this BEFORE you arrive in Taiwan, as there is no way of getting one here.

As a US citizen holding a valid passprt, you don't need to apply for a visa if you are staying in Taiwan for less than 30 days. However, if you decide on staying longer than a month I would suggest enquiring at the Taipei Economic office in the US, before you leave.
