You will be quite close to the Center and St. Mark's Square, just 1 minute away from there.
Undoubtedely the best way is by taking a private tour with a guide. They have flexible prices that will permit you to see the most importantes highlights of Venice.

1- use the vaporetto number 1 or 2 and take a look at the Gran Canal
2- book a food tour!!
3- throw away the map and just get lost. Venice is full of hidden places!
