We'd like to hire a private guide for one day and are trying to decide between: Vatican City & Museum -or- Forum, Colloseum and that area

It's my husband, myself (50) & teenage sons (17 & 14) who are all interested in history. Could use any tour guide recommendations as well. Thank you!

I would suggest to use the services of the Guide for the Forum and Colosseum: ancient ruins are more difficult to understand than a greek statue or a paiting. You may read a description of both tours in my website www.tourguideinrome.it

I agree with Mauro, a private guide in the Forum can let you zappreciate much more the site and give you insight details about other visitis including the Vatican tha t you can visit on own or maybe renting an audioguide.
If you need more info you can write directly to us at info@afriendinrome.it or visit our website www.afriendinrome.it

Dear family
Thank you for the request, and it would be a pleasure guiding you all here in rome.
Deciding between vatican city and Ancient city will not be easy as these are the two highlights of rome. I can offer a day tour this would cover both of them in an easy stop & go tour. The vatican musuems ( all the most important galleries , courtyards & monuments ), The sistine Chapel. St peters Basilica. The Roman & Imperial Forums (Inside) and The Colosseum (Inside).
7hr. 50euros/per hour. 350euros. (Lunch & entrances are not included).
This is a private tour and not a group tour, i.e. just you and your family.
my name is ana serra , im an official guide. please feel free to see reviews in tripadvisor
under ''ana serra'' and ''selected tours''

As my colleagues, I definitely suggest you to hire a private guide for the Roman Forum-Colosseum area.
Walking in the Roman Forum it's easier and more pleasant with an (official) guide, because in the archaeological area there aren't many panels or indications.
Sometimes people get lost, wandering "Where am I??".
For Vatican Museums, there are good books and (as Silvia wrote) even audioguide for rent.
If you want more info you can write me info@allascopertadiroma.it

Hi, to visit the Roman Forum, a guide is essential. Even Romans did not orient themselves among so many ruins. For the Vatican Museums having a guide with you is not indispensable. There are audio guides to rent for a few euros. If you want to be guided in the Roman Forum by a licensed guide who is also an archaeologist contact me at info@archeoguidaroma.it.
