I would recommend you go to Milford sounds for a lovely days kayak. I recommend this due to the fact I believe Doubtford Sounds is best when you can do a overnight Kayak.
I hope this helps and hope you enjoy your day kayaking where ever you choose to go. Its going to be beautiful either way :)
