After travelling to Zanzibar for the last 7 years we have now decided to go to beautiful Mauritius, we will be coming for the Month of...
Web
...February and do not want to stay in a Hotel as we feel it is too commercialised, we love nice beachs and great weather but do not want to be in a place where it is full of Tourists. On the Beach is essential for us and being able to swim without depending on tides would be great, we would ideally like to rent our own place and have Satelite TV but to be also near enough to some Resturant/Bar/Music Live where we can ocassionally go out can anyone give me some tips or recommend anywhere for us to stay

Hi there and congratulations for your choice. If you like sandy clean beaches, then the north is certainly the region you want to stay. If you want to stay out of touristic places then small villigages like Cap Malheureux, Grand Gaube, or Calodine would suit best. If you'd like more information on prices for individual homes or appartements to rent for a short period, then let me know by giving me your exact dates of travel and I'll be glad to give you some cotations. Don't forget to calclate a car rental into your budget since without private transportation you may feel isolated.

hiya u made a really good choice to visit us,for me i will suggest the south east blue bay as its not full of tourist compare to the north and many facilities are offered there as restaurants supermarkets etc and blue bay is not a busy place at all
and if u like nature you have many places like ile aux aigrettes natural reserve 1 km frm blue bay n also valley of ferney another natural reserve for me the best choice is the south east and many bungalows are available for rent if you need more informations its possible nice hols

I suggest you consider Trou aux biches region. I will recommebd to visit the website www.mauriclick.com where you can find lots of self catering accommodation you are looking for. I won't recommend you consider Quatre bornes or Flic en flac region.

Q Bornes is a place where you can have a cheap place to stay and many restaurants and even nightclubs like Palladium which is 1 km from the town you also have cinemas and casinos. Flic En Flacq, the nearest public beach is 15 kms from the town. Its also a great place for shopping. Pridesmart is the place where you can shop for makes like Billabong and other well known items at a very competitive price. On the whole Q Bornes is suitable for you guys to stay.

Cap Malheureux is a beautiful little cove in the north, 5 minutes from Grand Bay, noted for beautiful outer island views, gorgeous lagoons and it's little red chapel. If you're interested in renting a private bungalow on the beach, send me a private message and I'll see if it's available in February.

Hi Maureen !
Glad you chose Mauritius :) You seem to have a perfect idea of what you are looking for and there are nice places that matches the criterias you mentionned.
First you have the south region, either being the south east, for ie - Blue Bay or the south west (mostly west), for ie - La Preneuse. Both of them are the most beautiful and quiet coastal areas (with great beaches) of the island and they perfectly fit what you are looking.
On the other hand, there is Flic-en-Flac and Tamarin - both on the west coast at about 10 km away from each other. I am sure that one of these 2 places would certainly meet your goals perfectly : bungalows/appartements for rent, car/bike/scooter rental companies, beaches, restaurants (Ocean/Shooters/and so many), bars(in Pasadena or in front of the beaches), live music (in front of beaches too/restaurants or night clubs), etc...
To conclude, i would counsel Flic-en-Flac for the period you're coming because of its quietness (but not isolated), endless beaches, activities and entertainment facilities available and most of all, friendly population awaiting you.

For the month of february, I would suggest the East coast windy and nice to live during hot periods. We can accomodate in Pte d'Esny in a fully furnished bungalow on the beach. This is not a commercial area with tourists.

Hi.. You made the right choice by choosing Mauritius Island.. The west coast of Mauritius is recommended.. In particular, Flic en Flac beach.. It is warm and sunny..You can have a walk on the long and sandy beach...you have all facilities at your door step, i.e. Shops, restaurants, pubs, super markets, etc..

Shall be happy to help, Coming in Febreuary next instead of Zanzibar to Mauritius.
How many people, are there children in the group, of what age if any? how long are you staying? I will propose your transfer from airport to bungalow to and back, as wellas some excursions. Flic en Flac, Tamarin and Black River in the west of the island have nice beach less overcrowded compared to Grand Bay a north..
Nightfile , shoping, inland and sea adventures easily available since the island is small 90 minutes drive to the main visiting points avoiding hot hours 7h00 - 9h00 16h00 -17h30. The west coast is nearer to the main cities. tinternet cafĂŠ,Super markets, taxi, police, post office, and other facilities are Domestic facilities such as cooking and otherscan be provided on demand.
In The North Cap Malheureux, Pereybere, Grand Baie and Trou aux Biches you have more bungalows and hotels on the beach that the West but is far more expensive. The North is overcrowded and life is expensive compared to the West and the nearby cities like Rose-Hill, Quatre Bornes, Vacoas and Curepipe, Port Louis like all the Capital of the world is relatively expensive.
Once you have decided the exact period you will spend here pleaskeep me informed. I could also make arrangement for give you contact of one of the registered cheapest car rental company or may organise to put other means of transport at your disposal with regards to the number of persons travelling.
You can email me for private discussion on your visit

Hello User88525 ,
Being near the beach (no rain and beautiful sea) and near to bars, restos, music, etc., you have 2 choices grand bay onthe north coast and Flic en Flac on the west coast. Grand bay is the 1st tourist region of the island and Flic en Flac is a bit more local... I would recommend Flic en Flac as you are nearer to most parts of the island than in Grand Bay: near towns if u wanna do some shopping, near inland activities (quad, chamarel, lion walk, rando in forest and parks, golf and many more). U're nearer to the best dolphin spot which is on the west coast, ie, Tamarin Bay. And, further more, u don't need to rent a car because you can easily find tours with arrangements in transport to go wherever you want on the island. Let me know if u need anything... appartments, villas, airport tranfers, excursions, etc..

I would agree that the north has lovely beaches but too be honest February is really hot and humid here. My recommendation would be Trou aux Biches and I am able to help with self catering accommodation on the Trou aux Biches beachfront
Answer 2
I would definitely not base myself in Quatre Bornes!
