That greatly depends on one's needs. Business man, time is money, take a flight. There are no direct from Athens to Ljubljana, but there are reasonably priced 1 stop flights with normal turnover times.

If You're a tourist and would like to see some scenery, then choose a train to actually see all of the varieties of landscapes in range from Mediterranean, Panonian flatland to the peaks of high mountains of the Alpine region.

If You prefer water, then book a ship ferry from 5 different ports in Greece with destination Venice in Italy and kill a whole lot of flies with one stroke: beauty of Adriatic sea coastline and islands of Montenegro and Croatia and one of the most popular tourist destination in the world - Venice. In Venice You can rent a car and be in Ljubljana in slightly more than two hours of driving on the hiway.

Like Andrej said. Depends on your hikking priorities. Flight can be expensive but is fast. There you also have a train, not really a direct line but you can change trains somewhere, probably in Belgrade. There is also ferry line from Venice...takes 24h to port of Patras (it has several stops and that how you come to 5 ports that Andrej mentioned). You won't really see the beauty of Adriatic coast from the ferry, maybe some dolphins from the deck :)

To rent a car in Venice can be expensive (72 EUR/day at least + petrol). You have cheaper options. If you'll travel alone or up tp 3 persons then is the cheapest way to go by train (but if you are in group (5 or more) I can arrange transfer for your group, depends on date of your arrival and number of persons).

Hi there! Andrej put it nicely: it all depends on what You expect of Your trip from Athens 2 Ljubljana. If You want 2 explore regions along the way take the train (not the one through Bosnia though because it's dirty, slow and You will probably get mugged) or bus. Those seeking party and pleasure should take a ferry boat to Trieste, Italy and then train/bus 2 Ljubljana. Only way 2 travel on business is by plane...

check by our tourists agencies ( Kompas Holidays, Atlas tours, Palma, Potovanje.si, Soncek, ...) if they have any seats available on their charter flights. Its probably the cheapest way
