hi there, young person (fourty years is nothing).
sorry to say, Split is not my thing, but if you drive a car I can advise you one or two places at the seaside that are our favorites (perfect swimming spots and great seafood).
and if you like to have a romantic lunch, and are not afraid to go from Split to Omis, I can recommend a lovely restaurant direct at the river Cetina.
it's called Kastil Slanica, easy to find and truly a romantic lunch or diner !!!
