The best and the safest place for white water rafting is Kitulgala, there are few other interesting sights but so far we have not being able to access the international safety standards on these sights. So for now we would not recommend same. With the fast popularization of Srilanka as a tourist destination and with kind people like you patronizing the venues we would be able to offer you a fast choice with the given natural settings in the near future.
For now Kitulgala is a "C" Class rafting venue but due to the weather conditions in the area the rating can change.
It's easy to travel to this destination along the journey there are few other places that you can visit and enjoy too.
This location was used in the filming of , David Lean's 1957 award winning film 'Bridge on the River Kwai.' so it is a very popular destination to most yester year film buffs.
Hope you will find the place interesting will write a positive review on the internet about your travel experiences in Srilanka.

Everybody saying about Kitulgala. Just try to do something by yourself in another place. That will be good for our great industry I think. Many more rivers We know but not yet started. But business secrets. But come with us to River Mahawali at Peradeniya!
