What is the meaning of chaâba in Morocco? I saw a picture of a dry river bed and the author called it chaâba. Is this correct?

Correct. Mostly in the dry southern areas of Morocco there are lots of dry river beds. Water runs there occasionally. After rainstorms they carry flash floods. The current is so powerful that it erodes heavily by digging. Chaaba is what will develop -after millions of years- into a massive canyon.
