Depends where you are travelling from. For most countries, tourists do not need a visa however arrival and embarkation forms must be submitted to the Border Service in the airport. These forms are provided on the aircraft for arrivals and available in the airport for embarkation.
You must have accomodation available and know the address for the arrivals form. This should allow you up to a 6 months visitors stamp in your passport however, visitors wishing to stay for longer than an average holiday (2-4 weeks) must also provide evidence that you have sufficient funds to support you during your stay and this is currently calculated at around $50 (USD) per day however, you would not need this much to actually support yourself here.
If you are a potential investor in Mauritius, you should enter this on the arrivals form where a temporary business stamp will be given to you. If you were an investor, the Board of Investment in Port-Louis would be able to advise and assist with visa requirements.
Visas can be extended whilst you are in Mauritius at Sterling House in Port-Louis however, you will need documentary evidence of enough funds to support yourself.
