I worked at Hotel Centro Lido Hotel. It's a great choice reardin location. You only walk 4 blocks and you reach Chacaito, where the boulevard starts.
Hotel Centro Lido is located in Centro Lido Shopping mall and office towers.
Riht now in Venezuela we have a "control exchenge" wich means the rate for the dollar is set by the overnment. Unfortunatelly you cannot find dollars at this rate (Venezuelans) only for traveling. Normally people use as a status the black market rate that today is about 8 BOLIVARES per UD dollar. The Government's is about 4,6 BOLIVARES per US dollar. (for you is more conveniente the black market, but be carefull, it's ILEGAL)

Hello NileGuide: the hotel boutique , LIDO, is aprox 3 blocks east of Sabana Grande Boulevard. The official exchange rate is 4.3 bs per US but only if you sell your foreign currency. You will not be able to buy US currency at the official rate. It is wise to sell at the black market rate at the airport but be very carefull because the same people that buy the dollars from you may set you up.

You havw 2 boutique hotels to chose!
The best quality-price is The Hotel, located at Calle Mohedano, effectively East of Sabana Grande area, Caracas (++582129513275) and www.thehotel.com.ve. If you go by taxi from the airport, you should bargain the price around US$ 40, but if you take the airport bus, it's better to pick up the Sittsa bus that goes from the domestic flight airport that costs US$ 2, and once in the final terminus you can go by metro up to Chacaíto subway station and walk a little bit to the Mexican embassy and nearby is the boutique hotel The Hotel. Or better going there by taxi by US$ 12 up to there.
The other is the Pestana Caracas, A little bit far eastwards from Sabana Grande, but with the advantage of being close to Plaza Francia Altamira, located at 1ª. Avenida Urb. Santa Eduvigis, in Caracas too, (++582122081900), www.pestana.com‎. If you go by taxi from the airport, you should bargain the price around US$ 40, but if you take the airport bus, it's better to pick up the Sittsa bus that goes from the domestic flight airport that costs US$ 2, and once in the final terminus you can go by metro up to Miranda subway station and yo walk half a block northwards or take a taxi by US$ 12 up to there.
The official change rate is US$ 1 = Bs.F. 4,3. The parallel market is around US$ 1 = Bs.F. 7,5. We do not mention black market because is the left hand of the Government and it is risky for hte tourists because either you can receive fake Bs.F. or fake US dollars, or even you can be mocked by some disgusting surprise! To access to the parallel market, you ask the people from tourist agencies at your arrival, even your travel agent Venezuelan partner, they can help you to provide the best rates of the moment for you, because the prices are always floating.
