Split to Brac

Web
We are active seniors that will be in Split from 10/11-10/15. We are very interested in getting to Brac. My travel companions family is from Split/Brac and we would like to try and find out a little more about that area. Is there a guide that could take us to the island of Brac and show us around?

Hello,
Brač is excellent destination to spend holidays not just to visit. Since you are interested in tour of Brač I would like to recommend following "must see" landmarks:
1. Supetar - old fisherman port on north shore, direct ferry/catamaran line to/from Split. Amazing fact is that building entrepreneur Jeffory Blackard has started his Adriatica project in northern Texas to create a replica of Supetar, the Croatian Adriatic town on the Island of Brac.

2. Bol
Bol is the oldest coastal settlement on Brač. To the west from Bol lies the beach Zlatni rat (Golden Horn) one of the largest and most beautiful attractions of the Adriatic. In June 1811, one English corvette attacked Bol, destroyed several ships at the port and took to island of Vis rich pillage of wheat, oil and wine. Some people claim it was famous pirate Morgan.
3. Pucisca
Stone-masonry is here a centuries old profession which is confirmed by some worked out and exhausted quarries. But the stores of good stone are still very rich. Since the Ancient times, Brač had been the source of excellent stone for the stupendous buildings. Its precious white stone was used in building Roman emperor Diocletian's Palace in Split in 3rd century and White House in Washington, D.C., USA.
4. Blaca desert
During Turk domination, glagolitic priests escaped from Poljica and found relief on the island of Brac, in the Blaca desert, in the famous glagolitic monastery, they started to build in 1570.
5. Dragons cave
The Dragon's Cave, a refuge and sanctuary of hermits, is situated above Murvica, a small settlement on the southern slopes of the island of Brac. When passing through the cave, one can see the rocks assume the shapes of different figures and reliefs whose artists - and the era in which they created them - have still not been identified.
6. Vidova gora
