Thanks for your question, for a first timer id encourage you go down to mombasa by road considering the sites you will encounter en route mombasa including tsavo national park but if in a hurry to get to mombasa id encourage you fly kenya airways return ticket is roughly 70 dollars,if you are group it would be cheaper for you to hire a van that will drive you down to mombasa(bamburi)and you will most definately enjoy the sites and scenaries along the way approximately 310 miles

this depends on your schedule.
one: by air. once you alight at the airport you can book a flight to mombasa which you can do online, so that your flight can be scheduled and advice given accordingly.
there are a number of airline service providers and will cost you approximately 150 dollars vat inclusive
two: by bus. this is an appropriate mode when you are not in hurry and you want to experience the best sceneries of the country. however it is a tideous course to take for someone who has never travelled long distances. the journey takes approximately 10 hrs and will cost you about 25 dollars.
third is hire of private van.
terms of contract vary and charges are normally based on distance. common charges are approximately 0.5 dollars per km
welcome to kenya and enjoy your purpose

This depend with what time you wish to travel from Nairobi, if it is night time then you better fly, 540 flights have good airfares most of the time. During the day time you can do a car hire and you can enjoy the day trip from Nairobi to Mombasa stopping at different spot at your own time. Unlike the bus you will not have control of what you want to see.

Thanks for your enquiry, you can either opt for flight, (US$ 127.00 per person each one way including taxes) overnight tran (US$ 60.00 per person [first class] including dinner, bed and breakfast) or better still take a bus at US$ 20.00 per person. In Mombasa you will need a cab to transfer to Bamburi at US$ 20.00.

Hi. You could use road transportation. You can contact a local tour company if you are a group. A tour company will give you a fairly affordable package which will include sight seeing and driving you around Mombasa which can sometimes be a little hectic especially when you are in a group and using public transportation. You could arrange with the tour Company to pick you at the airport and drive you directly to Mombasa.

You could buy a ticket and travel by bus. I recommend you use Mash buses which are quite comfortable. That should cost about Ksh 1500 which is roughly $20. However, this option will force to come into Nairobi City which is about 30min from the airport if there is no traffic. if there is traffic especially at rush hour, its takes much, much longer.

If you are adventurous, the train ride is one hell of an experience! However this would you having to get into Nairobi city which might be a bit hectic. Also, the train only goes to Mombasa twice a week. I must warn you, it takes twice the time to get there.

If you hate to travel long distances, you could always book a connecting flight with Kenya Airways to Mombasa(roughly 45 min flight), get a taxi, pay roughly $20 and you are in Bamburi within no time.

Have fun!

There are various flight companies operating this route. You could opt for the Kenya Airways, Fly 540, Mombasa air and different more companies. The rates will vary and you will need to compare prices if on budget.
