Like any other country in Latin America, El Salvador has a big problem concerning gangs.
However, that is no reason to think that ALL of El Salvador is an insecure country.
There are parts where tourist can go and visit, and there are parts where even local shouldn't go.
But overall, El Salvador is a great country filled with wonderful eye-catching places, that will leave you completely satisfied.

It is safe.
Those kind of crime exists at our country but it is focused on some bad neighborhoods like in any other country... last week I went to Koreatown at LA on a business trip... and I saw some reviews about some dangerous places, like parks and some areas of LA... the same here at El Salvador. The tourists spots, beaches, malls, even the most of the neighborhoods or rural areas are safe to walk by.

It is safe to go walking about in most streets in El Salvador, depending on wich area you are, many places mostly touristic spots have a heavy load of police personal that provides us turists with a more secure way of enjoying your trip. Are you asking for an specific area or location?

You can come to visit the country whenever you like, but you got to have someone to tell you what to do, and where to go, in order to have a nice trip, and everything safe. Maybe someone could contradict me, but Mexico has the same situation with violence, worst or better ... it is always a fun place to go, like in the rest of the latinoamerican countries.

yeah i would say depends of where you go, and who youre with !! because there wil be dangerous places but if youre not from here youll never know where those places are!! you know what i mean and if youre with someone from here he will tell you whre is safe and where is not!!!

I don't think its that dangerous. There are gangs and there is a gang problem here but the truth is they are concentrated in certain areas.

I think it is safe.
Just use common sense. Social problems are present in all countries.
The same way where I would not visit Compton in Los Angeles I would not visit the gang areas here in El Salvador.

El Salvador is a safe place if common sence is used. Like any other place it is recommended to be guided by someone who knows the place to avoid dangerous parts and of course to see the highlights. If you dont look for trouble, you should be ok.

I would answer yes without hesitation, El Salvador is a safe place I've been here for almost 28 years and I was robbed only once and I would call it simply "bad luck" :-) wrong place at the wrong time. I know that as other countries we have issues with gangs and criminals but they tend to stay within a certain area so as long as you don't go there is safe

It is safe for tourist. If and when you take some precautions. Dog go out by yor self after 6 pm. And don’t get drunk by your self.

It is safe to visit El Salvador but like most nations in the world, there is always a certain level of crime and danger about. Most likely as a foreigner before going to another country, you would want to know some of the places not to go, what colors or things not to wear and what not to do. There are only small sectors in El Salvador that are considered dangerous but you'll be fine once you have God by your side.

As can be in any place in the world are dangerous areas and safe areas, I can say you walkin around "la terminal de oriente" is not more dangerous than walking around Hamburg's train station, always in El Salvador go with someone local, even the taxi drivers are not different from other countries they will drive you araund all San Salvador even you go a couple blocks away is better to use the taxies you can find in the hotels, and always seek help from a local to find one an negotiate the fare one time I helped in that to someone who told me that always ends up paying more when the "taxista" sees her as a foreigner, try not to be or look flashy, try to avoid public transportation is all an adventure but can be risky there are some places with policemen that can scort you mainly in rural areas like "el Boqueron" that is a very safe option, and always put a smile in your face that open all the doors and have some "coras" at hand (quarter dollar coins) if a gang member ask you for money give him some and will be no problem (that in the case you meet one) in case you need some advise about the addresses ask a policeman or in any store or something like that and I alway say better ask a elder one if you speak spanish, never ask a soldier most of the times they don't exactly know where they are the majority are from the country side and not familiarized with addreses and stuff like that.
