When you are in Paraty, you are living in the 18th century, lot of shopping places but also, hotels that look like museum, streets made of stones, in fact the whole town lok like a museum. Thanks to Portuguese engineering involving an ingenious curvature of the cobblestone streets, Paraty is home to a unique phenomenon. Once a month when there is a Full Moon and the tide is high, seawater rises from its normal levels, and pours into the Historic Center District through special openings in the seawalls that separate the city from the harbor. The streets are only flooded for a short time, until the tide recedes. The water is usually only six to ten inches deep and a few merchants near the seawall put out small bridges to span the flooded streets for the benefit of pedestrians.

I am sure that in a first glance you will think I am crazy, that this is not the Paraty you were reading, and this is not the place where you are planning a trip to the past, to see historical buildings and experience of the most complete Barroc Destination in Brazil! My Story with Paraty is an old one...This place is my shelter of piece, this place is a sample of the glorious past of my country, this place is simply the hidden paradise where I enjoy life with my friends and this place is my tool of work. So many things to do, so many things to experience, so many things to see... Here you can understand what Brazil is really like, the variety of landscapes, the mix of the races...past and present come across with yourself every moment. Much more 'worth it' than Búzios, in my opinion: It has historical value, esthetically it beats Búzios 'by a mile', but lamentably is becoming a bit of a tourist trap too. One can escape though, if one stays off the beaten tracks ...

Paraty is an old pirate port in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil. The most beautiful islands all around. Good for swimming, meeting people from all over the world. Take a walk in old city downtown, there have lots of bar, restaurants and good talking. Also try buy some tipical souvenirs at the day. Amazing and historical place u can't lose!

Historic city with a lot of kind of tours that can be done. Historic tours in the city, boat tours through some islands near the city, beaches in the city and in the islands and much more.
