The Third Mainland Bridge is the longest of three bridges connecting Lagos Island from the mainland. The other bridges are Eko and Carter bridges. The Third Mainland Bridge apart from being the longest bridge in Nigeria is also the longest bridge in Africa.
The Third Mainland Bridge was built by Julius Berger Nigeria Plc and opened by President Ibrahim Babangida in 1990. Its length is about 11.8km
