San Bartolo is a wonderful place to visit. Probably one of the few remnants of the former Peruvian summer resorts along with Cerro Azul. Since two centuries ago the summer resorts were either Ancón or Chorrillos, after the war with Chile only Ancón remained, and there the peace agreement was actually signed between both States. Unfortunately migration from the Andes, unplanned demographic growth and poverty achieved after the military government of the 70´s engulfed Ancón and some of its residents moved far south in search of peace. That middle class migration increased, and unwillingly formed 'Asia' resort, a humongous group of ticki-tacki box like summer homes of the Limenian 'wannabes'. San Bartolo much on the other hand,has the dignity and heterogeneity of former Peruvian society, there the wealthy sail their yatches or catamarans in front of the bay where fishermen work and live, no fences or armed guards, no racism or clasism as unfortunately is the rule in other beaches of a still racist and clasist society. No pretense based on high consumption rates, no open malls for summer time, but nature, sun, and peace.

BEST PLACE TO RELAX, SURF AND SKATE IN LIMA. CHEAP AND GOOD FOOD . PENASCAL , LAS DERECHITAS, LAS IZQUIERDITAS, EL HUAYCO, PENAROSA, PLAYA SUR, PUNTA CAKE.
