It is a "must-be seen" attraction in Guayaquil. Whether you go during day or night time, it will amaze you!
While climbing up, you can count stairs with the useful tags on stairs. In the morning, you can have a wonderful view of the city and river. In the evening, bars are opened for karaoke, drinks, dance and live music!
Outside each house, there's a photo of it before its remodeling: old pictures (black & white) that bring back the pace of those past years. Enough security guards...safe tourist area

Well I think is a little confusion by the photos, the long way up to the lighthouse (444 steps) it is the Santa Ana Hill, in this place you will find a cross that mark where the spaniards arrived to establish the city of Guayaquil if you keep goinig you will find an original spaniard fort at the bottom of the lighthouse and at the end obviously the lihthouse and a church, the lighthouse is only to remember the sailor spirit of the guayaquileños, we have not an original lighthouse located in this place because we were a famous port where we export different stuff to Spain and by this reason we were attacked many times by pirates (having a lighthouse in the very top is just like you say "hey we are here come to attack us"), the neighborhood called Las Peñas is in the bottom of this hill to the east side where you will see most of wood constructed houses that belong to many ecuadorian artist that found in this area a place for inspiration, well refurbished houses that keep the original taste of the real guayaquileños ans their traditions, make a walk around and you will feel the atmosphere, by the way you will find in this area many helpful guards that make you feel really welcome and safe, people in Guayaquil is very curious about foreginers and like to smile them, many speaks a little bit of english

It's a very peaceful place to walk by since it is close to the river and you can take a sit and relax for a while after a long touristic day. The old houses tell a story about the begginings of Guayaquil. I like Las Peñas a lot because I feel like I'm part of the History as well.

It is situated at the end of Malecon 2000. Another common tourist location in Guayaquil. It rises 460+ stairs with different bars and Karaoke bars all through the different set stairs. At the end, there is a lighthouse and a church, where many pictures can be taken overviewing the city.

Las Peñas is the oldest existing district of Guayaquil; their homes date back more than a century. It is located on Cerro Santa Ana and built houses that belonged to important people of Ecuadorian history... Nowadays there are a lot of bars... In addition to tourist sites

This is Numa Pomplio Llona Street (Las Peñas ) one of the best places in Guayaquil. You must see it, many local artists have their workshops in here and show their art to visitors. Nice and safe to walk. Get a chance to discover it by yourself. Do not get mislead by the other pictures which are taken at Santa Ana Hill, those are not taken in Las Peñas...just search NUMA POMPILIO LLONA street and you will find your way to discover this nice place.
