Built in 1767, It's the world's second oldest bullbaiting ring. Each springtime, from mid - October to late - November, Acho hosts the Lord of the Miracles bullbaiting season, held in honour of Lima's Saint Patron, Lord of Miracles. It has got a small but important bullbaiting museum.

The Plaza de Toros de Acho is the premier bullring in Lima, Peru. Located beside the historical center of the Rímac District, the plaza is classified as a national historic monument. It is the oldest in the Americas and the second-oldest in the world after La Maestranza in Spain (not counting the Roman Empire-era Arles Amphitheatre in France).
Of the 56 official bullrings in Peru, the Plaza de Acho ranks most prominently. It has a seating capacity of 17,000 and was constructed of adobe and wood, both traditional materials.
In 1765, Agustín Hipólito de Landaburu sought permission to construct what he called "a fixed plaza for the corridas de toros" that would take place in Lima during the city's celebration of Carnival. The plaza would be constructed in the Rímac district on a site that had been used for several temporary bullrings since 1754.[1] The site was called “el Hacho,” a Quechua word meaning “elevated place with view of the sea.” Construction on the plaza officially began on the 30th of January, 1766

only to add to the others Acho has a very good museum that you must visit if you are in the area even if there is no bullfights the museum is open for anyone and at low cost, you may also ask to tour the ring, try going during the midle of the day during day light.

It's a typical tourist attraction in Lima, though many middle and high class locals enjoy the espectacle.; Acho is the oldest bullfighting ring of America The bullfights are programmed mainly during the final week of September to the first week of November and the best trophy is called El Señor de los Milagros (Miracle's Lord) wich happens to be the most crowded religious congregation in América, which develops on the same period.in Lima.
Acho is full of spanish colony remembrances and it is said that you are not considered a really good "torero" (bullfighter) if you didn't fight in Acho.

A wonderful old place, full of atmosphere.
Of course no all must agree with the corrida, I don't, but I must say the place is really nice.
If you go to San Cristobal hill you could see this old building from a nice and different sight.
