Thats no problem .. you can make your way to Buggiba and Qawra ...15-20 mins drive.... its is very built up and lots of good resturants to choose from ... the prices are normally quite low and parking is relatively easy ... NO particular one to suggest, however i do advise that you stay away from timeshare louts as this area is full of these promoters. Hope you have an amazing holiday .. ull be happy at the SAS golden sands hotel .. its the best hotel
A good restaurant nearby is 'Ta Soldi'. It is at Mgarr and specializes in Maltese traditional dishes.
Had an excellent meal last night. Thanks
Hello
i am Edward
there is a very easy way to go to st pauls bay and bugibba
10 minutes with a car you are there .
the first restaurant you will find is veccja ,which serves fish and maltese dishes this is the first building you will find in st pauls bay on the sea side.
then in bugibba itself there you will find many places to eat traditional food ,just in front of my diving centre underwaterworld there is mother earth restaurant which is a traditional maltese.if you need more help sms or call me 00356 9949 4034
Well as regards to restaurants in the area you mentioned there are plenty of them.FROM THE FAST FOOD ONES TO THE MORE EXPENSIVE AND SOPHISTICATED ONES.Apart from the xemxija ONES WHICH INCLUDE CHINESE RESTAURANTS,ONE CAN TRY THE BEACH RESTAURANTS AT MELLIEHA,WHICH MIGHT NOT BE CLASSY BUT THE FOOD IS GOOD AND PRICES REASONABLE.IF YOU GO TO THE BUGGUBBA /QAWRA AREA YOU WILL BE SPOILT FOR CHOICE.Are you adventureous? Why not cross over with the ferry to Gozo.YOU CAN EITHER LEAVE YOUR CAR AT CIRKEWWA[NEAR THE BOAT FERRY] AND CROSS OVER TO MGARR AND TRY ONE OF THE FISH RESTAURANTS THERE OR TAKE THE CAR ON BOARD THE FERRY AND GO TO VITTORIA,MARSAFORN, XLENDI ETC AND TRY ONE OF THE LOCAL RESTAURANTS THERE,.AN EXPERIENCE THAT YOU WILL TREASURE FOR A LONG TIME I CAN ASSURE YOU!!
a bit further down in IMGARR maybe 5 minutes drive there's Ta' Soldi restaurant. Its not the cheapest on the island but you wont be disapointed when it comes to maltese food! Its the best there is!
hi. My favourite is Mgarr Farmers Bar. It really is a workers' place, very clean and with home-cooked real Maltese food. Prices are fantastic and food is genuine with huge portions. Tell Ivan the owner I sent you. Go early at lunch times before food runs out. I dont think they open in the evenings.
Danish village is quiet and reasonably priced in Mellieha Bay. It's camouflaged but is opposite the beach.
The beach bars are also fun. A b it rough but worth it.
Local food as such is also served at Ta Marija in Mosta but not sure how reasonably priced it is. Come down to my family;s pizzeria in Birzebugia for a relaxing lunch on the seafront or dinner. We are closed in the afternoon. Again, say I sent you!
Have a great stay and why not keep in touch while you are here too?
Our pizzeria in Birzebugia is called AL FRESCO. It is just down the hill from Ghar Dalam museum and cave. Birzebugia (abbreviated to BBuga or BBugia) also has a couple of sandy beaches so it is worth a visit.
If you go to st Bugibba on tourist street next to the San Antonio Hotel there is Ta Pawla restaurant. the owner michael is a sweet guy and the food there is good. Further more there are a few places in Mgarr that serve great rabbit. the most dumplooking football bars usually serve the best. For horsemeat ( maltese spec) u can go to naxxar, the horse shoe it is called, it sit along a main road and looks like a western bar. Hope u will have a wonderfull time in Malta ;)
You've already been given a list of half Malta's restaurants and, of course, everybody has their favourite - and we're all different. You are very wise renting a car because you will be staying right at the end of the road and there isn't much in the way of walking distance restaurants - or anything else for that matter! But you will love the Radisson Blu Golden Sands. It really is one of the best. Don't miss Agliolio down by the beach at your hotel. Drive to Mellieha and park and then walk along the main street and take your pisck. One of Malta's best restaurants is there - The Arches. Or drive further down to the beach where there is a good choice. Please DON'T go to Bugibba/Qawra - unless you really wanted Torremolinos but came to Malta by mistake. Ir's tacky, dirty and full of tattooed lager louts. Have a great stay and thank you for choosing Malta
Hi,I think you`ve been given a wide range of restaurants to choose from. Have a look at what they offer, you`ll definitely find food you like.Enjoy your stay on the island.
Better late then never - If you can handle big portions try Rueben's Drive Inn in Bugibba roughly behind Suncrest Hotel, Eureka in Xemxija Bay (ask for Joseph), and Vecchia in St Paul's Bay on the way to Bugibba (ask for Tonio). Much more to recommend, feel free to call 00356 79 433 900. I do recommend you try the food at the hotel itself!
Hello there.
If you want a real taste of Malta at a reasonable price then I suggest you follow the locals to the small nearby village of Mgarr where you can try some of our local specialities such as rabbit, quail or if you are not the squeamish type then snails. There are many good restaurants to choose from there. I really enjoyed a small one called Ta L'Ingliz. My favourite typical Maltese fare is a starter of Spaghetti with rabbit sauce, followed by rabbit that has been fried in garlic and red wine. You should also try the Bigilla which is a sort of pate made with beabs abd garlic and served with the local water crackers (galletti)or hunks of our crusty Maltese bread.

For fresh fish I would recommend trying some of the smaller places around old St Pauls Bay, or enjoying a trip down to the southern areas of Malta to the fishing villages of Marsaxlokk and Marsascala. I would personally avoid the more built up areas of Bugibba as they are very commercialised

If you are looking for somewhere a little more special then you are spoilt for choice but my favourites are Tarragon in St Pauls Bay, Venus in Bugibba, Giuseppes, the Arches and Rachel's in Mellieha and Madliena Cottage in Madliena. However, I would highly recommend the Malta Definitavely Good Food Guide which I believe has a website. Hope this helps. I'm sure you will receive many other good recommendations. Ps. I also understand that the Essence restaurant at the Radisson Golden Sands is wonderful too if you have a special occasion!

Best regards,

Lorraine
Hi. The SAS hotel at Golden Bay is a good choice. As you have a car, I would suggest, for Maltese rabbit, try The United Bar at Mgarr (not far from you). A little further afield in St. Julians Bay, try Tal Kazin (it's the old band club right in the bay just above McDonalds) where the service and food are excellent and it's not too expensive. If you go down to the south of Malta try Il Rizzu in Marsaxlokk (although most of the restaurants there are quite good). Also the Fisherman's Rest at St. Thomas' Bay, although it has gone a little more expensive these days. If you like pizza, the very best in Malta is La Cuccagna in Sliema, just off the front, not far from the Fortizza, an ols fort near the Preluna Hotel. For an amazing breakfast, try The Offshore, near Zara's clothes shop in Sliema. A couple of more expensive but good restaurants are Chez Phillipe (a tiny place at Gzira, opposite the bridge to Manoel Island) and Al Mare in Valletta at Marsamxett. I would advise staying clear of Buggiba and Qawra as they are very touristy and a bit down market. I have not had a good meal there. Please get back to me if you want any more advice. Hoping you have a great holiday.
hey i work there and i could tell its one of the best view places you could hv chosen. there are 3 main restaurants in the hotel one buffet one al la carte Italian and a fine dining French one.. there are loads of restaurants in mellieha even the hotel ones are quite good hehe. enjoy ur stay i might sent ya sum free startes if ya like:P...
Hey that's amazing. We are staying in the Twilight Tower and the hotel is great. Eat out in Mgarr last night at Ta Soldi and had a huge meal which was really good. We are going to eat in the Flavours restaurant at the hotel on Friday as we have a 30 euro voucher to use. Maybe we will see you. Thanks for the reply

go to Veccja in xemxija its relaxed and good atmosphere for food and drinks.also loads of places in Bugibba square. Mellieha has Guzeppi's, Mithna and Arches and also Sea bank hotel which has various restaurants including a Jungle theme one... Njoy..
Since you have access to the internet you should visit since it provides a local guide to Maltese restaurants around the island. Since you have ea car you can easily drive to nay of the islands restaurants.

The most popular restaurants in Mellieha are The Arches (close to the church) and the restaurants of Hotel Riu Seabank in Ghadira.
for all the restaurants that you need
I always send my foreign group leaders to ta'Kola Restaurant in Sliema area, it is cheap and it makes typical maltese food. It is close to TGI Friday. I am suggesting you this place because My group leaders where always happy with the quality and service :)
