I'm coming to London on my own - not with a travel agency. The check-in for my flight back starts at 4:30 a.m. at Gatewick airport. I...
...haven't picked up hotel yet and I'm worried about the transfer to the airport - Gatewick express strats at 3:30, but my problem is, if my hotel is far away from Victoria station, how shall I get to the station in the middle of the night? How much does cabs cost per mile in London?
Constituent state: England
Country: United Kingdom
well, there are a lot of hotels and b&b's around victoria so have a look at where you're going to stay. I don't know the cab prices per mile because I hardly ever use them, but the night buses are pretty reliable
Taxi charges ( London black cabs) are regulated. You can get an idea of the charge here.
Or I guess go early and camp out at Gatwick?
As it is your first time to London, my advise to you would be to stick with the ''black cabs.'' Taxi charges ( London black cabs) are regulated. You can get an idea of the charge, I wrote the website address below. Good luck on your travels
Or I guess go early and camp out at Gatwick....LOL
Get a train the evening before from London to Horley. Horley is one stop before Gatwick Airport. If you search google for "Horley B&B" you'll find a whole range of excellent Bed and breakfasts for a very cheap price (far cheaper than London). Book before you leave London, when you get to Horley get a cab from outside to your B&B (should be £3.50). Book another cab (01293 820820 DSM Cars) to take you to the airport in the morning (£4.50 from Horley). You'll arrive stress free and a lot more relaxed than yopu would if you charged across London.
You could get a coach from Victoria Coach station, i.e. the National Express. Check their website for timings, as they should run all night. But book in advance.
We also offer a taxi service, if you let us know when you are coming.
A black cab would charge around £80. We charge £50.
