Thanks for the question! Sydney has an absolute abundance of attractions that are suitable for families, and in some ways what you can do is only limited by your imagination. Here's a selection of my favourite suggestions:-
Sydney Wildlife World & Aquarium - located at Darling Harbour, these are a couple of great attractions to visit. The aquarium is a great display of aquatic creatures both great and small, and includes a great walk-though underwater viewing area. Wildlife world is situated in the same area, and lets you get up close and personal with a wide range of native flora and fauna. The butterfly exhibit is a must!
Toronga Zoo - continuing on the same theme, Toronga Zoo is a must see, situated in spectacular surroundings on the edge of the harbour. Short ferry ride from Circular Quay.
Surf Lessons at Bondi Beach - okay, the kids may be a little young, but they will love the atmosphere and surroundings!
Ferry to Manly - it's a 20+ minute ride across the harbour to Manly on the ferry, but it is worth the experience. Cruise through the harbour, past the heads to dock at Manly wharf. Take a wander round, explore the shops in the mall, grab an ice cream, and check out the beach. It's a great little day trip that gives enough variety that the kids will love. Plus, the ice cream helps!
Luna Park - situated at Milsons Point just on the other side of the harbour bridge, Luna Park is a small amusement park that has kept kids entertained for many decades. Enter through the world famous laughing clown's mouth and explore a world of roller coasters, amusement rides and experiences right on the harbours' edge.
Whale watching - depending on the time of year, many operators offer whale watching cruises departing out of Sydney Harbour. The last few years have seen the numbers of migrating whales cruising past Sydney increase quite substantially. So much so that we have occasionally had whales enter the harbour over the last couple of years. Season is generally April / May - October.
Darling Harbour - although not a "tour" as such, Darling Harbour is a great place to visit. There is generally something happening, and there are facilities that will amuse both adults & kids alike. Some great play areas for the kids, and great shopping for the adults. While you are there, check out the Kingpin Bowling Lounge..
Take a monorail ride to and from the city centre, stopping right at Darling Harbour's doorstop, or another couple of stops and you are at the Haymarket area where you can get off and explore Chinatown and Paddy's Markets (open weekends).
A couple of links where you can explore things to do:-
Both of those links will give you a rundown on some of the tour based activities and things you can do whilst you are here.
For Darling Harbour, visit
I have only included a brief selection of things here - other options could include harbour cruises, open top bus tours, blue mountains day tours, train rides and more (some of which are optioned in the links above).
Anyhow, I hope this helps! If I can be of further assistance, please do not hesitate to let me know!
