i mean, fashion trends.
Hi Murimi, I believe you need to just be in comfortable and not too outlandish wear. JEANS AND TSHIRTS OR ANY OTHER FORM OF CASUAL WEAR SHOULD DO WITH SAFARI BOOTS OR SNEAKERS.
enjoy your touring.

COMFORTABLE CASUAL WEAR SHOULD DO WITH SAFARI BOOTS OR OPEN SHOES. DONT FORGET A HAT.
Kenyans are generally conservative in their dressing but its a liberal country. Not to appear out of place your best bet would be modesty. For outside wear try and waer lose cotton clothing. You might also want to know the weather of the area you want to visit Kenya being in the equator and having varying altitudes has a bit of all i.e hot and cold so be more specific on the places you want to visit. Otherwise stick to natural fibres remember we expect rain soon and you will be just fine.Enjoy your Safari

well it depends when you are coming...if its Jan to like late march the weather is really hot so t shirts sleeveless tops jeans and shorts are preferable for footwear i would suggest sandals or open shoes to prevent foot infections from the heat...in April till July the weather is really cold so warm clothes are preferable and this is where the safari boots come in cause they keep you warm....as from August till December the heat is back so once again get out the trendy tops you are comfortable in in the heat....i would suggest cotton material cause it absorbs the sweat...
hi,Murimi,i believe fashion varies according to your taste.because theres all kinds of weay.but to be on the safe side.makesure you have with you a pair of jeans, sweater top and a t-shirt.you might need a cape too.oh!and canvas shoes.
Fashion trends? I would advice travellers to keep in mind much more the local customs than fashion. What is more important - to be dressed according to the latest trends or not to offend your hosts?
This means no shorts for both sexes, ladies' trousers and skirts should be below the knee. In some areas also no bare arms or shoulders.
In general not showing too much bare skin unless you are on the beach or at a swimming pool.
thanks for the great answer.
Proud to be Kenyan is the motto! These days there are so many designers both public and personal who can whip up a dream with a lasso or kikoi. Masai Beaded sandals and accessories in everything from coconut to horn and bone!
Don't forget the straw hat!

fashion in Kenya........just don't walk naked and obey the weather
At the moment we have a heat wave and waiting for rains.. so just light wear in cotton will help you be comfortable. ALso get ready for the rains as well, it should be just round the corner. ANd carry a cap & good sun glasses and lots of sun lotion.
it depends on the occasion , but in general casual
current fashion?kenya has no stable climate condition, but if u are visitig kenya today you can dress a t-shirt,light trouser, open shoes or safari boots and a safari cape.enjoy you day
Just obey the weather
Hi,
my opinion is that one needs to put on decent clothes.casuals will always do.For current fashion,I must say depends on age, class and status e.g.while tight outfits would be ideal and appealing to the young people, the same would not be said of the more classy ones who would love to show their status by adorning designers' outfits.Hope this helps you.
Thanks.
hey, the temperatures in kenya are currently high in most o9f the p[laces. this means that when travelling you should put on light clothing to be comfortable. a cap and sun glasses will protect you from the scortching sun and dust.have fun.

stella,
I'm not really sure how to answer this. Your profile says you're from Nyeri, and judging by your name, I would assume you're Kenyan yourself. So I'm curious as to why you would be asking about Kenyan fashion.
Are you maybe asking about Nairobi fashion? In Nairobi, almost anything goes, really. Keep it functional and modest, but make sure it's comfortable. There's no point in dressing to kill if you're uncomfortable. It depends on the time of year and the time of day. Obviously people will dress up more to go out clubbing or for dinner at night. In June, it will start cooling down a little, and you'll need a sweater or jacket.
Nairobi fashion basically follows western fashion, with it's own little twist. There's everything from rastas to hippies, to safari boys, to posh ladies in stilletto heels, to business men in their suits. Dress to whatever suits your purpose and preference.
Dress code in kenya is open juz wear anything u are comfatable in
When you ask about the current fashion trends, are you reffering to what is culturally acceptable?
Comfortable casual wear will do the trick.

Rachel
what your wear is better taking into consideration on where you are visiting e.g if you are going to the coast its good to take light clothes as compared to central kenya or mountain areas otherwise casual wears are good
Casual will do. Just look hot but it must be what is comfortable for you
hey.kenya is full of fashion.when travelling it depends with the weather and where u are travelling.welcome and have a nice day
There some attire that will never Kenyan adventurer these are; Jeans or Khaki trousers and shorts, T-shirts, Khaki jacket or jeans jacket, round rim hats, shades (goggles). boots or snickers. these are standard for bush related adventure. for coast barmuda shorts and shirts or t-shirts, shades, spaghetti tops for ladies, free dresses for ladies and of course bikinis for the beach strawls. open shoes and leather sandals are the best for the coast.
considering the weather at this time, you need cotton type of clothes and a jeans, safari boots as they are internationally seen as on fashion.not forgetting heavy clothes
Fashion well it varies...as well the weather ...please be specific!
anything comfortable will do.....
fashion in Kenya,just keep it simple with shorts,jeans,sneakers,sandals,cotton shirred/wrap-front tees,and a cap/hat.
First thing don't forget the Safari boots (they are available locally at the Bata shops) and the Obama theme is the in thing, whether you choose to go to Malindi,or catch a flight to the Mara.
Thanks for your querry and your keen interest in our country's fashion .fashion really goes with age for the old id have to say they like to dress african hence wear tradition attire especially in functions such us weddings, for the young and young at heart have to say would prefer to stick to the young hippy sort of look in jeans, tshirts or casual shirts especially over the weekend, the rest of the week we tend to stick to the official look in suits and ties or broken down suits but the jeans will still feature on weekdays.hope i have been of help.
Anything casual will do,jeans t shirts, shorts etc.though it also depend with the weather. Kenya is a land of extremities.Cheers
