Many towns have their own tourist information office which is a good starting point, they are often run by local volunteers.
For our own area The Atherton Tablelands here are a couple of informative websites.

Hope you enjoy your holiday.

Lonely Planet Guide - this is the best book to travel -will tell you the minutest details which sometimes a travel guide may also miss. So take the Lonely Planet Guide to Australia and enjoy travel.
Hi, I agree, the Lonely Planet is a great guide book!!! It really is one of the best ones to have. I have used the Lonely planet for Europe, Asia and America and it was so much help! Also, if you look up the lonely planet online, I think they now have information available online as well.

Agree with all of the above in either purchasing and non purchasing books but what you really should decide before hand is what you do and don't want to see and how much you want to spend and then either find a local to help you in finding and locating inexpensive deals for you we have a lot to offer you and would be a shame for you to miss out on a few of them - good luck
