TRY HOWARD JOHNSONS THEY ARE USUALLY LESS EXPENSIVE THEY HAVE IN QUEENS NOT IN MANHATTAN THERE IS A HOLIDAY INN IN THE BRONX BUT IT IS NOT IN A GOOD NEIGHBORHOOD
I am not familar with family establishments. I work with people in the fashion industry. I would take your daughter to Central Park and ride the carousel. It's quite lovely.
Your price expectations are, to be blunt, unrealistic. Your best bet would be the Vanderbilt YMCA, 224 East 47th Street, +212-756-9600.

Buffalo is almosy 1,000 kilometers away and I know nothing except that Niagara Falls is NOT in Buffalo. (The two cities are nearly 100 km apart.) There's a huge difference between New York State and New York City. You should learn a bit more about American geography before you come here. It's a very large country (the world's third-largest by area, after Russia and Canada, but before Brazil) and points that appear close on a large-format map are, in fact, separated by a journey of two or three hours.
It is not easy in New York city to find accomodations that cheap but here are a few suggestions. This applies to the rest of your trip.

and also can try aaa which is an automobile/travel related organization.
Good luch and enjoy the USA.
Based upon the amount of money that you want to spend (which is very cheap for New York accommodations), I would
recommend the WestSide YMCA, 5 West 63rd Street, New York, New York 10023. The rooms are spartan like a college dorm but it has a great location near Carnegie Hall, Radio
City Music Hall, the Theatre District and shopping areas. When I stayed there, the rooms were super cheap. You should contact them with your dates and see what they have available.

The other option is always where you
might be able to get a Free Place to stay with a local
resident for a few days.

ENJOY! I hope you have a wonderful trip!!!
Places to stay in Buffalo (downtown) Hyatt, Adams Mark. Hampton Inn, Outskirts: many chain motels.

Be sure to take THE BUFFALO MOVIE TOUR if you are there when it is offered.
