Hi, Singapore is not that big after all, you can travel from any part of the island to the city in just less than an hour.

Well, below are some suggestions/best places to visit if you are in the city area:

Shopping Experience-
1. Orchard Roard, along the street, there are rows of shopping malls which one can also find many famous and well known brands.
2. Marina Square and Suntec City Mall, they are more family friendly.
3. Vivo city. It's known as one of the biggest shopping area for singapore as of now.

Places of interests-
1. Singapore Flyers (The largest observation wheel)
2. Marina Barrage ( A new tourist attraction in singapore)
3. Sentosa Island (It's a place whereby you can spend the whole day at)
4. Singapore Museum & Ancient Civilisation Museum (Heritage/Cultures...)
5. Esplanade & Merlion Park (These are popular tourist attractions)
.....

Upcoming Events-
1. Singapore F1 Grand Pixel 2009, It's the 2nd year that singapore will be hosting and it's will be a night race. (SEPTEMBER 09)
2. Opening of Marina Bay Sands Integrated Resort. (Tentatively, end of year)
Hi, WILMA, World Expat Traveller.

Why dont you take the Singapore Airlines BUS, and get to see the place at the same time. If you are flying on Singapore airlines, i think it is half the normal fare.

There are the main attraction sites, and tickets are cheap.

Else, for a new tourist, Take a city tour or boat tour, then walk around yourselves the next day. (Most of them you cau use SIA Bus. Free n easy,if you need guided tours - you need to look at a travel company)

Boat Tours

Short Boat rides

Tour boat rides

Island cruises with food , tea. ( I recommend the Night cruise, quite romantic.)

Brgds,
Hi Wilma,
Good to hear you're coming to visit our FINE city!

well depending on what you are looking for, there's a variety of places catered to your shopping needs.
1) Big international brands - On Orchard Road, you have Paragon, Ngee Ann City (a.k.a Takashimaya)

2) For Hip, young, quirky fashion - On Orchard/Scotts road, there's Far East Plaza and The Heeren. Off the beaten track, there's Haji Lane and the area around Arab Street. Arab st also has many places where you can buy beautiful cloths, silks and interesting ethnic stuff. Have a cup of Teh Tarik (traditional "pulled" milk tea) while you are there! Oh! and you can smoke some shisha with your delicious lamb kebabs too!

3) for Sports gear - Queensway shopping center. This is abit out of the city center but the bargains are fab.
4) For Electronics - Sim Lim Square. I would suggest you check online for the camera/equipment you really want, get the model, then head there and ask around and bargain like crazy before settling to buy. Cos every shop will defer in price for the same item and if you're not sure what you want, you'll probably end up being fleeced abit. But all in all, its a great bargain center for stuff.

4) Mustapha Centre - This is a massive 24hrs always exciting, people-filled mall located in Lil India, that sells everything from gold, watches, accessories, clothes, food, electronics, medication, spa machines, prosthetic limbs and you can even buy a car at 4am in the morning!

Some must see places are:
1) Lil India in Serangoon, where they have curious shops selling ethnic Indian stuff. Have fun taking loads of pictures as this is one of the more colorful part of Singapore.

2) The Zoo & Night Safari (Get there about 3pm and buy a full day pass to do both in a day, its really nice cos the animals are kept in natural habitats without cages and sometimes you might just run into some huge Orang Utans just sitting 1m away from you while you are walking on the foot path!) If you travel on SQ, you'd get more discounts on entrance fees when you show your boarding pass.

3) Sentosa - Do the underwater world, swim with Pink Dolphins, walk in the Butterfly Park and have a drink and watch the sun set at Cafe Del Mar. There's a beautiful Italian restaurant (really good) called Il Lido. Top off the night with a nice dinner there and you won't go wrong.

and like most of the places that the rest has mentioned.

Here's another useful site to check out for more info on the attractions.

Most importantly, when you are in Singapore, you must EAT!! This is THE favourite local pastime! Its like a national sport, trying to find the best food! Indulge in the cheap local fare (everywhere!) or if you are looking for fine international cuisine, we've got some really great restaurants.

So have fun!!

cheers
Carrie
Singapore is a small country but with loads of fun and excitement.

I’ll recommend some of the place that are awesome, and hope you’ll like them.

Sentosa Island (If you are a beach person, and there’s loads of beach restaurants, pub, bar, everything that’s fun under the sun).
Vivocity (Largest mall in Singapore, and it’s very close to Sentosa, I’ll recommend you to go Vivocity and chill out at the same day you go for Sentosa. Take the skytrain from the highest level of Vivocity to Sentosa at $3 for unlimited rides for that day)
And Orchard road has lots of malls (Known for the arrays of malls from high ends to cheap finds) as well as a place for dining as well.

For museum, there’s all kinds of museum, depends on what you’re looking for. For more information you can go to Singapore’s website to check out some must-see places. ( )
Best shopping places are Orchard, City Hall and Suntech City for a start.

Amusement parks such as Downtown East entertainment & water wet & wild Park, Go Kart Ride, Paintball shooting game, etc.
Hope the list will fulfill ur interests:
1.Sentosa
2.The Singapore Botanic Gardens
3.Haw Par Villa
4.The Singapore Zoo & Night Safari
5.Jurong Bird Park
6.Orchard Road
7.Singapore Science Centre
