Answers

See for a list of countries whose citizens can acquire a visa at the port of arrival - if your country is amongst them, you do not need to acquire a visa beforehand via a Kenyan High Commission and get one at the airport upon arrival.
Visa cost is US $50 for single entry but will be halved very soon (as was announced today in the newspaper), so actual cost will depend on your arrival date. Please note: recent dollar notes only - i.e. printed in year 2000 and later. This is advice for the whole of Kenya and East Africa, if you come with old notes they will not be accepted. If you intend to travel within East Africa (Uganda, Tanzania) and then return to Kenya, this is considered as a single entry (as long as you stay within the allowed period of 3 months). Please note that visa costs on the airport can be paid in dollars ONLY (until recently euros were accepted as well, but this has changed). No need to bring passport size photographs - Immigration at the airport is nowadays equipped with webcams! (Prepare yourself for long queues though, as this means a time-consuming process).
As for the weather in Mombasa and environs (Diana): although the weather is generally good (warm to hot, always humind) for a beach holiday, there is some seasonal variety, e.g. rainy and dry seasons. So the answer depends on when you are travelling. More detailed weather information can be obtained through the BBC website
The question about costs (how expensive is Kenya) is difficult to answer, as it depends very much on your country of residence and the price level there. But in general Kenya is not overpriced, though locals pay less than tourists (obviously, as their income level is way below that of foreigners. Bear in mind that you are expected to bargain for almost everything, so do not judge on the first price given to you - from transport to souvenirs and even excursions. Prices in restaurants are generally fixed.
Enjoy your honeymoon! May you find Kenya every bit as romantic as it really is. Karibu Kenya! (Welcome to Kenya)

What nationality are you? The link provided in the answer above is a good place to find out about visas and costs. If you're flying into the country (as I assume you would be), you can fill out the application and pay for the visa right there in the immigration queue as you step off the plane in Nairobi.
The weather in Kenya right now is warm. Mombasa (Diani) is pretty hot. But being right on the beach, you'll have a nice ocean breeze all day and all night. Take lots of sunscreen and malaria preventatives. You can forget Mephaquin and Doxycycline. Mephaquin has been known to give people bizarre dreams and hallucinations. Doxy gives alot of people hypersensitivity to the sun, which you'll be under all day long.
Malarone is the best malaria medication.
Kenya doesn't have to be expensive, if you don't want it to be. For you, though, coming for your honeymoon, you're going to want to visit the nicer restaurants and whatnot, so it will be a little bit more. Still, though, prices are generally reasonable by US or European standards, so don't expect to be spending a fortune on food.
Shopping for souvenirs and knick knacks can also be cheap, if you know how to bargain. Bargaining in an african market is an experience you won't forget. Just have fun with it and remember that no matter how much the guy wants you to buy his wares, there's no obligation, if you don't want to.
Have a great honeymoon! and enjoy your stay!!
Hi
I hope this email find you well. The weather will depend on which month you are planning to visiting Kenya. Diani is in the Kenyan coast and you should expect hot weather.

How expensive is Kenya will depend on the season. During peak season, travelling to Kenya can be more expensive than low season.

I would also suggest a 4 night stay in Lamu Island. Get more information from . You will make your honeymoon even much better.

Thanks

My name is HANS and I am living at the Coast in Malindi.

Thanks for your question. The visa issue can be sorted by yourself by sending your passports or visiting Kenya's embassy with your passports within your country for processing. Kenya is not that expensive, for any tours, get in touch with a local tour operator to quote for you a holiday trip to the wilderness of Kenya.(see:)

Hello Visitor? Kindly See
Which country are you coming from? You could use the following to check if your country is among the countries whose citizens acquire the Kenyan visa at the airport. index.php?id=45. You need to acquire a visa through Kenyan High Commission at the airport as soon as you arrive. Previously, a Visa was costing US $50 for single entry but this has been halved by our Tourism Minister and its actually in effect to encourage many tourists to visit Kenya. When a acquiring a visa, you do not need size photographs, this is because the immigration department these days use webcams for easier transactions. Remember that Dollars have become a sensitive issue at the airport. They are insisting on the recent dollars mostly the ones which bear the serials printed on 2000 and above. Actually a visa is paid by Dollars. There might be queues depending on the arrivals at the port but they are manageable so this should not scare you away. From the airport you will get a taxi to take you to the destined hotel. Traveling is very easy and comfortable.

On the other hand how long are you planning to spend in the country and its localities ie Uganda and Tanzania? If it will be within the period of 3 months then you will just need to have a single entry, and with it you can travel to Uganda and Tanzania. The weather at the coast is gorgeous and you cannot regret the visit. Its hot, warm and with enough humidity there are. All in all, you could visit the meteorology department in Kenya through goggle Kenya weather. You will also have some good time at the beach and good and affordable baths. Kenyan food is good and varied and you will also like it to your taste. There are traditional dancers around and you will be in a position to meet them and see how they do their dances.

What I know about Kenya, expenses depends on how much you are willing to use. Kenya is not an expensive country but you need to do a lot of bargaining because the locals are looking forward to maximizing their profits. The only places that you cannot bargain are in the hotels and shops or supermarkets because the prices are fixed.

Welcome to Kenya and enjoy your honeymoon to the fullest. Karibu Kenya
kenyan visa costs usd50.00 and you can acquire it on arrival at the airport or from the nearest kenya high commission.the weather now is sunny at the coast but we are soon expecting rainny season.
It all depends on which country you are from, otherwise, you can get a visa right at the airport at a fee of US$50 per person.
HI,

congratulations and i assure you you have made the best choice for your honeymoon holiday !!

Depending on your country of origin, you can acquire a 3 months tourist visa at the airport for American $ 50. please visit for details.

The weather will be fine for that to include all water sports and scuba diving and the rates are affordable. Enjoy your stay and have maximum FUN
I cannot agree more with the above answers... Really, I think the combination of the above answers is almost an exhaustive solution to you visa, weather and holiday expenditure in Kenya. Unless you have other specificities, I think this is it! Welcome to Kenya.
hi,
Kenya is cool for that diani per say, well it depends on the time but its hot know, about the visa, its half usd 25, do you have a Kenya consular around or east Africa consular they should help , thanks, david
Kenyan Visas / Visa into Kenya

Visas are now required by almost all visitors to Kenya, including Europeans, Australian, New Zealanders, Americans and Canadians, although citizens from a few smaller commonwealth countries are exempt. Visas are valid for three months from the date of entry and can be obtained on arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi.

Cost of Visa to Kenya

The visa fee is UK £35 or US$ 50 for a single entry visa, and UK £ 70 or US$100 for multiple entries. If you have any other currencies, you’ll have to change them into shillings and then back into dollars. Tourist visas can be extended for a further three-month period-but seven day transit visas (US$ 20) cannot.

Where to get your Kenya visa

It’s also possible to get visas from Kenyan Diplomatic missions overseas, but you should apply well in advance, especially if you’re doing it by mail. Visas are usually valid for entry within three months of the date of issue. Applications for Kenyan visas are simple and straight forward in Tanzania and Uganda, and payment is accepted in local currency. Visas can also be issued on arrival at land borders with Uganda and Tanzania.

Multiple entry Visa to Kenya

Under the East African partnership system, visiting Tanzania or Uganda and returning to Kenya does not invalidate a single entry Kenyan Visa, so there’s no need to get multiple entry visas unless you plan to go further a field. The same applies to single entry Tanzanian and Ugandan visas; though you do still need a separate visa for each country you plan to visit. Always check the latest entry requirements with embassies before travel.

It’s always best to smarten up a bit if you are arriving by air; request for evidence of ‘sufficient funds’ are usually linked to snap judgments about your appearance. If it’s fairly obvious that you aren’t intending to stay and work, you’ll generally be given the benefit of the doubt

Weather
Kenya's climate is fairly warm throughout most of the country. However, most of the country is at altitude, which means hot, sunny days - with strong sun - and cool to cold nights. Exceptions to this are the coastal belt and the northern parts of Kenya, which are generally arid and hot.

Watamu's weather depends on the Trade Winds, with rain expected during June July and October as well as during October, November and, sometimes, December. The hottest months during Kaskazi - the hot northeastern Trade winds - are from December through to April. Then the wind changes to the Kusi - the cool wet southern Trades

Hi. I hope that this mail finds you well. The visa issue depends on where you come from.As our minister has said the visa fees are being reduced by 50% for tourists.
On weather issue it depends on when you want to take the holiday, but at the coast the weather is generally warm. How expensive is Kenya to tourist? This also depends on when you want to come.July to October and 15 December to 5th January is Kenya's Peak season. If you come during this period the rates are usually very high.April to mid June is Kenya's Low season meaning that the rates are really affordable for both locals and non residents alike. The length of your stay will also affect the cost.if you are planning on a middle budget honeymoon i would suggest that you find other accommodation options at the south coast of Mombasa. Please let me know what you are looking for, for your honeymoon and the duration and i am sure i will be able to advise you more on accommodation options.
Wish you all the best.
The first thing you have to do,please visit the immigration web site. get every information that you need to have about your traveling and the visa.you can book the visa interview online after getting the appropriate date that you want to go for the interview in your country.
after acquiring the visa now we can arrange all the other things i.e your stay and the rest.
The question about the cost of living depends on how much you intend to spend per day and what distance do you intend to be taking, generally Kenya is affordable and i will advice where need be.
Weather is not predicable anymore, since weather is good now we should not assume you should take proper precautions i mean any medications that has to be taken because conditions vary with different places.
thanks feel free to contact mi at anytime for any questions.
Have a wonderful honeymoon to remember.
Hi,i think Augostinos answers covers all you wish to know, i agree with him. Welcome and create a memorable honeymoon!!!!
the hotel you have chosen is one of the honey havens we have along the coast of kenya. you will enjoy yourselves thoroughly. for immigration information go to and you will get all information about visa. some countries are required to get visa before they get here, others can get it on arrival while others are referral type and you have to apply six months in advance. each country requirements are posted in the website.
Congratulations for choosing kenya as your honeymoon destination .Your hotel at the south coast is fabulous and authentically cosy.So your choice is fantastic.Weather in this region is typically hot, warm and humid but,the breeze from the ocean makes all friendly.Occassinal rains are there but, again you'll still enjoy.About the visa ,you can always get one on arrival, either in Nairobi or Mommbasa at a fee of usd 25 down from usd 50 previously charged. As it has been stated earlier by other localytes,Kenya is not way above being very expensive but, again depends on what you want to do with 'who' and where you want to stay. For nitty gritty information e-mail me hope all information provided by other members will help you make an informed decision.yookoso kenya e.
whether you need a visa depends on your home country.nice honeymoon
