I need a good restuarant for Sunday lunch on Farther's Day 21 June 2010 as coming out to spend time in Malta with parents. I wiould... a restuarant in Vittoriosa or St Julians - Any sugestions only not many seem to open lunch time.

Country: Malta

you should try ... the westin dragonara resort... or the radisson hotel.. in st julians.. at the Le Bistro.. I love both restaurants :)
I would suggest that you phone to book on Father's Day, as restaurants are likely to be full. For this reason, there is a tendency for waiting time to be relatively longer than usual, so maybe going to a hotel for lunchtime buffet would be more advisable. In terms of hotels who serve buffet for lunch on Father's Day, I would suggest the Corinthia Marina, Radisson SAS, Westin Dragonara and Hitlon, all in the St Julian's area. For other good restaurants in St Julian's serving a la carte, I would suggest Zeri's (at Portomaso) and The Avenue. Food is always good here, as is the service. In the Vittoriosa area, I would suggest Sottovento at the Birgu waterfront. Also, if you like fish and are up for a different locality, I would highly recommend Ir-Rizzu at Marsaxlokk; all food there is delicious, especially the fish which is its speciality, all in a family run and extremely clean environment: you can actually see the food being cooked.

Hope this answer helps!
Thanks to you and all the other very useful suggestions which I am sure we will take up during the rest of our stay but for Farther's Day we are going with Mark's suggestion of Don Berto.
Hi there, there are loads of restaurants which open for sunday lunch in St Julians, I would suggest Peppinos in Spinola or Paranga in St Georges Bay, or else there are various restaurants in the Portomaso area such as Buffalo Bills ( for meat) Zen for Asian, or Al molo for Mediterranean,
For Vittoriosa I would suggest Don Berto ! CAll before and book a place on the terace with a lovely view of the Marina.

Name: Don Berto Restaurant

Address: Vittoriosa Waterfront
Locality: Vittoriosa

Dear Mark
Thanks, we have gone with your suggestion and have booked it up. Have looked on the restaurant site and it looks realy nice. We will be visiting relatives in Birgu that morning so this seemed the nearest. And thanks for inclduing the telephone number we called from the UK and all is set for a surprise for my Dad.
I would suggest Lo Spago in St Julians if you like Italian food. There is also Gozitana in that area if you would like to try out local food. If you are a big fan of fish I would suggest going to Vittoriosa or Marsaxlokk because many restaurants there specialize in seafood.
In St Julians you can try Terrazza which is situated in Spinola Bay far from the busy road and with a lovely view on the bay.

You have as well in St Julians, Sciacca which is pretty new but amazing. If you want you can have a look at the website :
Have a good father's day
I recommend San Giuliano Restaurant, St. Julian's
i monelli or tana del lupo is good too.. i monlli is a chic place which serves very good pizza pasta and grill and tana del lupo is more up class
For a nice lunch, outside and not too expensive in st. Julians, i would recommend San Raffaele and Papparazzi, they have terraces outside overlooking the sea, its a relaxed atmosphere nothing too too fancy, just right for a fun lunch or dinner with family, its not too expensive, mediteranean food and if you like fish, its even better, cause thats where some fisherman berth, so you know you will get something extra previously sugggested, booking is recommended....... enjoy :D:D:D
I echo Daniela's advice and really support her suggestion of Ir Rizzu at Marsaxlokk. I would suggest booking a table as it will be full. Their number is 21651569 or 21650492 (add 00356 before if calling from abroad). The Ir Rizzu is great for fish but they also do other food and pasta. It will be noisy, but all the best restaurants in Malta are! My number 1 favourite restaurant (for quality, value and great service) is 1927 in the Old Band Club at St. Julians, but not sure they open at lunchtime. Worth checking out on 21354361.
Casino in Vittoriosa has buffet lunch every Sunday and in St Julians ESTILO, beautiful place, great food
I would suggest any restaurant at Portomaso St. julians. there's Sale e Pepe which is good or the Buffalo Bill Steak House.

As for the cottonera area, i would suggest Enchante at Vittoriosa seafront.
Good restaurants in St Julian's are: Zest; Dolce Vita; Peppino's. There are a lot of others as this area is very much sought after by tourists. Next to St Jukian's there is Paceville where one would also find a number of good restaurants.
