Well, I've only been to Mass. once and only to Boston. Also I only stayed a couple days. BUT I would love to go back! Boston has so much history and beautiful old buildings. The people seem pretty cool though I can't say for sure because we mostly encountered tourists and thos catering to the tourist industry.
Boston is easy to get around in and it is easy to find the historical spots. Everybody knows where they are! I highly reccommend Boston and can't wait to get back for a longer stay myself!
I WAS BORN IN BOSTON, MASS. BUT GREW UP IN HAWAII. HOWEVER, MY DAD "PARKED HIS CAR IN THE HARVARD YARD" AND GOT HIS MBA FROM HARVARD. HE ALSO GOT HIS UNDERGRADUATE DEGREE IN ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING FROM YALE. I AM A BIG WAVE SURFER AS WELL AS A STUDENT...SO I STAY MOSTLY IN HAWAII. I DID SEE ONE OF THE BEST ROCK CONCERTS EVER WITH "JETHRO TULL" HEADLINING IN BOSTON, MASSACHUSSETTS AFTER HITCH-HIKING IN THE SNOW FROM HOTCHKISS SCHOOL IN LAKEVILLE, CONNECTICUT WHERE I ATTENDED SOPHOMORE YEAR OF HIGH SCHOOL IN 1972! IT ROCKED! I HEARD THE "BOSTON TEA PARTY" WAS QUITE THE RAGER TOO! ALOHA ROM !!
Massachusetts is one of the most charming states in the New England area. Apart from the largest city, Boston, chock full of history and great architecture..there's Harvard, the Back Bay, the north coast communities with terrific lighthouses and lots of pubs and gorgeous Cape Cod. Out to the west are the Berkshires with Williamstown with summer stock theatre and wonderful art museums. In the fall it, along with other New England states, offers the glorious colors you could ever hope to see.
Massachusetts has a lot of history, education and culture packed into such a little New England state. Cities like Boston, Worcester and Springfield bring a wide array of restaurants, night life and culture, while the small towns of Western Massachusetts have lots of quaint villages and country scenery often seen in popular travel magazines.

The coast is filled with adorable ocean towns with lots of photo opportunities, seafood restaurants and shopping. One particular area, Cape Cod, is a wonderful peninsula of villages surrounded by gorgeous coastlines with lighthouses, sailboats and lots of history. Additionally, the berkshire mountain area of Massachusetts is a hotbed for music festivals, outlet shops and scenic drives especially beautiful during the autumn months.
