Sorry, never been to Baja, I could not tell you exactly.

All I know about Baja is that many Americans are living there and all
I heard is good things about Los Cabos.

I don't think any special security issue or advice is required to
travel both places, they are very American friendly places.

Sorry, never been to Baja, I could not tell you exactly.

I can tell you however, about Puerto Vallarta for instance in the
Pacific West Coast at Jalisco.

CABO IS TOP OF THE TOP, AWESOME HOTELS , THE SERVICE IS GREAT AND PEOPLE IS VERY FRIENDLY. GOLFING IS GREAT THERE, ITS JUST ONE OF THE TOP PLACES TO GO IN MEXICO...
Cabo is amazing, you can find almost any activities, so whatever is your plan, you can find something you like. You can take a boat and go sightseeing, it is awesome, take money to spend. The food is great, I recomend the lobster tacos.
Well it's amazing... but it does depend on what you enjoy doing. The beaches are very beautiful and the water color is amazing, but unless you are planning to go there between july and october the water will be cold, but on the plus side from december to february you can go gray whale watching. There are a lot of outdoor activities you can do like renting an ATV, go horseback riding, kayaking, wakeboarding, mountain biking, off road tours, surfing, snorkeling, scuba diving (the third largest reef in the world "Cabo Pulmo" is very close by), fishing, hunting, rent a jetski, you can take a tour to "Sierra La Laguna", play golf, etc, etc. If you enjoy the nightlife, San Lucas has a lot to offer, you can go to the marina or to the bars and clubs around town, it all depends on your taste of music and atmosphere. The food is great, there are great restaurants. The people are friendly and courtious. You can take a tour to San José, which I prefer to San Lucas, it's less touristy. If you decide to go, it should be quite an experience! I have several friends over there and one of them is certified by the Mexico's Secreteriat of Tourism as a regional tour guide, if you wish I can give you his contact info.
Like every one told you Baja it’s a place for fun and it has a lot to offer.
But you should really tell every one what you really enjoy son they can give you a more précis info.
For example to me one of the places that I cant stop thinking about its cabo pulmo, its near san José del cabo and you can find people in cabo san Lucas that organize tours to that place.
If you like to scuba or snorkel you will love this place, I’m sure that you never seen nothing like this.
The only place that can compare to cabo pulmo it’s the red sea, the amount of fish and different variety of sea life it’s incredible.
This is a very friendly and Americanized area but it holds alot of local flair. The people are relaxed here, you will enjoy the stress free atmosphere. There are so many things to do. Golf at top notch world class signature golf coures. Play Tennis at a club where Pete Sampras just had tournament. Dine in the finest restaurants or eat at the best taco stands, sky is the limit. There is a wealth of international cuisine here and fresh fresh ingredients. It is a safe area but of course use your common sense. It has miles of beautiful white sand beaches and few people on them. Enjoy Cabos main beach Medano, there are all kinds of activities from water taxi rides to the arch. Glass bottom boats, parasailing, sky diving, snorkeling, jet ski's, sun tanning, visit the dunes on an ATV, take a zip line tour through a canyon, take an off road jeep trip, snorkel at Cabo Pulmo's live reef, take a trip to the East Cape where time feels like 15 years ago, secluded beaches, night life, entertainment on San Jose's town square, walk a fresh water estuary and visit a bird sanctuary with over 200 species of birds, visit the water falls and hot springs, shop till you drop.............it's endless. Or just have a relaxing time in a hammock on the beach.
another tip of a fun thing to do: do a canopy tour, descending from a zip line into a canyon
