In the following posts people refer to many affordable ho(s)tels that are worth checking out: and . I have also heard good things about the Trianon Hotel [+31(0)20-673 20 73 / no website], located right behind the Concertgebouw (which is at centrally located Museumplein, an upscale neighbourhood). They offer regular hotel rooms with four bunk beds and your own bathroom for only €10 (p.p. I presume). People who stayed there say it is pretty clean and quiet.

The so-called CS-Zone Am*dam offers all kinds of off-track info on the city that will save you money and help you find the best places to enjoy a successful evening out.
Youth Hostels in Amsterdam are relatively expensive and have a lot of rules (i.e. if you book a Friday night you must also book a Saturday night).
Some hotels offer a triple or quadruple room for 25 Euros per person per night.

Paradiso offer live music and after that a discotheque during the weekends.
Hotel Arena have a really popular bar and also offer small dance events on some Friday nights.
Welcome to our country and i gather you are not alone. Its easier to bunk in if you both are either just men alone or together as backpacking ladies but should you be traveling with a partner as a couple, you probably would have more specific concerns with hygiene and cleanliness and located within nearby facilities esp. if you are planning to move about on public transport etc.

Some singles / couples even travel very simple and easy leaving a beautiful home behind with no one to look after but if you wish to have a fair exchange, which eventually costs you next to nothing living in a furnished apartment or private home, you can also consider this popular option as well as it is a rather interesting outlook to seriously have as an alternative.

Try this place . Unlike many other hostels it's in a nice part of town which is quiet and safe. Without knowing what sort of nightlife you're into, head to the main squares which are generally - Leidseplein - touristy bars, Nieuwmarkt - studenty, Rembrandtplein - gay or gay friendly, canals - more upmarket, middle aged.
