everywhere you could eat well, lots of restaurants all over.
Where to begin? Egypt has excellent food really - the 5-star hotels have restaurants that serve cuisine from all over the world and especially in Cairo you can find anything you want but it does come at a price :-). Local food is available widely and much more cheaply, even the good Oriental restaurants are cheaper mostly than say the upmarket Italian etc.

In Cairo try Abou El Sid

This place is amazing in combining together the taste of the food and the taste of the place that keeps you with nothing but a taste of quality and happiness.
It is kind of dimmed lighting place for more privacy while eating and drinking. It serves local Egyptian dishes with a Moroccan style. They play good oriental music. They have a small bar as well. They also offer shisha inside the place. Don’t miss it.

FOr Italian you coudl try Cortigiano

Come early or make a reservation as good food and an equally delicious atmosphere have made this Italian restaurant a favourite among Cairenes. Recently remodelled, the subdued lighting and tasteful furnishings are still in place. The dining area is both warm and inviting, and the service is top-notch. For a little extra intimacy, cozy up in the booths tucked away at the back. The servings here are big, so be forewarned. Choose from a wide selection of salads and soups. The creamy onion soup (a rich broth of onions and cream) is said to be the most popular and after one sip you'll know why. Entrees range from pasta and Italian specialties to seafood and a highly recommended Veal Cordon Bleu, which is stuffed with mushrooms and topped with cheese and tomatoes. The pizzas here are fantastic: thick crusts and loaded with cheese and toppings. The desserts are not their strong point..

Petit Palmyra - Middle Eastern and African, Europe

For elegant surroundings at a peasant's price, this is the place to come. Marbled floors, silk-upholstered chairs, immaculate tables and fresh flowers are just some of the flourishes that make dining here a pleasure. Vintage black and white photos of Heliopolis adorn the wood-panelled walls. The staff is well groomed and attentive, and a piano player entertains diners in the evenings. The kofta and kebabs come highly recommended. The grilled pigeon and basic pasta dishes are well done, but the international dishes can be hit-or-miss. Try the Veal Cordon Bleu with a generous baladi salad. Desserts include Om Ali and crème caramel. Alcohol is served.

Alexandria, of course has plenty of excellent restaurants and especially seafood restaurants. Try the upmarket Fishmarket for something special.
